Nifty Midcap Select Index - A Brief Introduction
Nifty Midcap Select is the broad-based index of the National Stock Exchange (NSE). The index tracks and captures the performance of the 25 most liquid midcap stocks listed on the NSE. The constituents of the Nifty Midcap Select index are identified and selected based on their availability on the F&O segment, market cap, and average daily turnover.
The Nifty Midcap Select was launched on 14th September 2021 by NSE Indices Limited. The index carries a base date of 3rd October 2005 and a base index value of 1000. The NSE Indices Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Stock Exchange, is responsible for owning, managing, and governing the Nifty Midcap Select index.
The Nifty Midcap Select stocks list comprises 25 liquid midcap equity shares representing the 11 sectors of the Indian economy. These sectors include the financial services (23.29%), information technology (15.09%), healthcare (14.28%), capital goods (12.87%), consumer durables (7.76%), fast-moving consumer goods (6.38%) and 5 others.
