Aequs Shares Crash 19% After Q2 Losses Widen: Buy, Sell or Hold? Aerospace Order Book, Consumer Electronics Drag and Key Levels

Quick Answer

Aequs shares fell because EBITDA dropped 45% to Rs 24.5 crore and the EBITDA margin shrank to 6% from 16%, even though revenue rose 45% to Rs 409.1 crore. The aerospace business is healthy, with revenue up 44% and an order book of USD 1.1 billion, but the consumer electronics business lost Rs 40.1 crore at the EBITDA level. The stock has a daily RSI of 16.75, which is deeply oversold, and trades below its 20-day average of Rs 254.45. This is educational and not a recommendation.

Aequs shares had already slipped from about Rs 265 on 13 Oct to Rs 242.40 on Monday before the results, so Tuesday's gap down added to an existing fall. The Aequs share price is now about 26% below its 52-week high of Rs 294.70 (my calculation), and investors are asking whether the aerospace story still outweighs the consumer losses. This article reads the Aequs Q2 results segment by segment, then checks valuation, the technical picture and the risks.

Why Aequs Shares Fell After the Q2 Results

Aequs shares: Q2 FY27 (Rs crore) Sep 2026 Sep 2025 Change
Revenue from operations 409.1 281.6 (company basis) Up 45%
EBITDA 24.5 44.3 Down 45%
EBITDA margin 6% 16% Down 10 percentage points
Net loss 52.2 to 52.3 (sources differ) 20.6 Loss widened
Net loss in June 2026 quarter 53.2 Not applicable Loss narrowed slightly from June

In the Aequs Q2 results, the loss widened sharply from a year ago, but it narrowed marginally from the June 2026 quarter, and EBITDA rose about 14% from Rs 21.5 crore in June (DSIJ). The company also said the year-on-year comparison is not like for like, because consumer electronics costs were expensed in FY27 while they were treated as pre-operative in FY26. Even so, Aequs shares reacted to the margin, because a 6% EBITDA margin leaves little cushion for a stock that was valued for growth.

Sources differ on a few base figures. The data provider shows Rs 297.34 crore of revenue for September 2025 and Rs 402.27 crore for June 2026, while the company-basis figures in the articles I read are Rs 281.6 crore and Rs 395.5 crore. On the data provider base, revenue growth would be about 37.6% (my calculation), so the 45% headline should be read as a company-basis figure.

Aerospace Strength and Consumer Electronics Drag

Aequs shares: segment (Q2 FY27) Revenue (Rs crore) EBITDA (Rs crore) Comment
Aerospace 351.4, up 44% 78.3, up 24% EBITDA margin about 22.3% (my calculation)
Consumer electronics 57.7, up 52% Loss of 40.1 Loss was Rs 36.1 crore in the June quarter
Aerospace order book USD 1.1 billion Up 9% from June Includes a long-term Safran wheel contract

The aerospace order book is where the Aequs share price has found its support. A new Safran agreement to make wheels for the Airbus A320 is described as the company's first serial-production contract with a tenure of more than 15 years, and aerospace EBITDA still grew 24%. The weak link is consumer electronics: management cited slower volume ramp-up, longer customer qualification times and supply-chain constraints, and costs rose before volumes could absorb them.

A Kotak Neo report says utilisation of about 50% is the threshold for operating break-even in consumer electronics, and no break-even date was given. DSIJ notes that the path to break-even has been pushed out. For Aequs shares, that means the group-level margin will stay below the aerospace margin until utilisation improves.

Capex, Funding and Management Targets

Aequs shares: item What was reported
Consumer capex Planned investment cut to Rs 200 crore to Rs 300 crore
Aerospace capex To rise, including the Hosur expansion
Total capex for the year Rs 500 crore to Rs 550 crore (Kotak Neo)
Promoter-group warrants Rs 650 crore raised, for expansion, joint ventures and working capital through December 2027
Fundraising None planned in FY28
2031 target Revenue of four to six times the FY26 base

Executive Chairman and CEO Aravind Melligeri said consumer volumes ramped up more slowly than expected and that the company will first use existing capacity before committing more capital. That shift is a positive for the balance sheet, because Aequs shares carry high expectations and cash burn from consumer capex is now lower. The promoter-group warrants also signal commitment from the promoters, which supports Aequs shares, although they do not remove the need for profit.

Valuation of Aequs Shares

Aequs shares: measure Reading Comment
Market cap Rs 16,237 crore Data provider
Price to earnings Not meaningful The company is loss-making; EPS (TTM) is Rs -2.54
Price to book 10.92 Book value Rs 22.16 per share
Return on equity -7.41% Negative
EV to EBITDA (trailing 12 months) About 142.9 DSIJ, at Rs 204.25
Debt to equity 0.47 Moderate

Aequs shares trade on a price to book of 10.92 with negative earnings, which means the market is valuing the order book and future margins, not current profit. An EV to EBITDA multiple near 143 times for Aequs shares shows how little current profit supports the price. If the aerospace margin holds and the consumer losses shrink, the multiple can fall quickly, but if consumer losses stay at about Rs 40 crore a quarter, the multiple stays high.

Technical Levels for Aequs Shares

Aequs shares: indicator Reading Meaning
Price at 11:59 AM Rs 217.05 Down 10.46% from Rs 242.40
Day low Rs 196.50 to Rs 196.80 About 19% below the previous close
14-day RSI 16.75 Deeply oversold
20-day EMA Rs 254.45 Price is about 14.7% below it (my calculation)
SuperTrend (10, 3) Sell; upper band Rs 254.18, lower band Rs 225.36 Price is below the lower band
52-week range Rs 113.30 to Rs 294.70 About 26% below the high (my calculation)

An RSI of 16.75 for Aequs shares usually reflects heavy selling, and oversold readings can bring short rebounds, as the move from the Rs 196.50 low to Rs 217.05 shows. A rebound has to clear the SuperTrend lower band at Rs 225.36 and the 20-day average at Rs 254.45 before the trend improves. A close below the day's low would mean that selling has resumed. These are trend readings and not targets or recommendations.

Buy, Sell or Hold: Risks and What to Watch Next

  1. Consumer break-even. Watch whether utilisation moves toward 50% and the EBITDA loss of Rs 40.1 crore starts to shrink.
  2. Aerospace conversion. The USD 1.1 billion order book must turn into revenue at a steady margin.
  3. Margin. A group EBITDA margin of 6% is thin against a valuation of 10.92 times book.
  4. Capex discipline. The cut in consumer capex helps Aequs shares, but the Hosur aerospace expansion needs funding.
  5. Volatility. Aequs shares moved about 19% in a session, so position size and stop-loss rules matter.

Conclusion: Aequs Shares Need Consumer Losses to Shrink

Aequs shares crashed because the margin collapsed, not because aerospace weakened. The Aequs share price still has support from aerospace revenue and the order book, while consumer electronics is still burning cash and its break-even has moved out. Aequs shares may stay volatile until the next quarter shows lower consumer losses. Verify the filings and decide according to your own risk profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did Aequs shares crash on 27 Oct 2026?

Ans. Aequs shares fell as much as 19% after the Aequs Q2 results showed the net loss widening to about Rs 52.3 crore from Rs 20.6 crore and EBITDA fell 45% to Rs 24.5 crore. Revenue rose 45% to Rs 409.1 crore, but the margin dropped to 6%. The stock recovered to Rs 217.05 by 11:59 AM, so check the live quote.

Should I buy, sell or hold Aequs shares?

Ans. That depends on your time horizon and risk profile, and this article is not a recommendation. The aerospace order book of USD 1.1 billion and the 44% growth are positives, while the consumer electronics loss and the 6% margin are risks. Wait for evidence that consumer losses are shrinking before adding Aequs shares.

How did the aerospace segment perform?

Ans. Aerospace revenue rose 44% to Rs 351.4 crore and EBITDA rose 24% to Rs 78.3 crore, a margin of about 22.3% (my calculation). The order book is USD 1.1 billion, up 9% from the June quarter. A long-term Safran wheel contract for the Airbus A320 was also announced.

Why is the consumer electronics business losing money?

Ans. Management cited slower volume ramp-up, longer customer qualification timelines and supply-chain constraints, so costs rose before volumes could absorb them. The segment lost Rs 40.1 crore at the EBITDA level in Q2. Utilisation of about 50% is the break-even threshold, and no date was given.

Did Aequs report a larger loss than the previous quarter?

Ans. No. The Rs 52.2 crore to Rs 52.3 crore loss is wider than the Rs 20.6 crore loss a year ago, but it is slightly smaller than the Rs 53.2 crore loss in the June 2026 quarter. Some headlines call it a narrowing and others a widening, depending on the comparison.

What are the key technical levels for Aequs shares?

Ans. Daily readings show an RSI of 16.75, a 20-day EMA of Rs 254.45 and a SuperTrend sell signal with a lower band of Rs 225.36 and an upper band of Rs 254.18. The day's low was about Rs 196.50 and the 52-week high is Rs 294.70. These are trend readings and not targets.

What is the company doing about capex and funding?

Ans. It cut planned consumer investment to Rs 200 crore to Rs 300 crore and expects total capex of Rs 500 crore to Rs 550 crore, with more going to aerospace, including Hosur. It raised Rs 650 crore through promoter-group warrants and plans no fundraising in FY28. Check the filing for details.

Is this article investment advice?

Ans. No. It is educational and not a recommendation to buy or sell. Please check the figures against company filings and your own risk profile before you act on anything you read here.
