Titan Share Price Defies Market Slump: Can It Keep Winning?

Quick Answer

The Titan share price is up about 10% in 2026 while the Nifty 50 is down about 15%, which is why the stock is seen as having defied the market slump. The Q2 FY27 business update showed jewellery growth of 21%, below the 25% to 27% that analysts expected, but watches grew 30% and eyecare 28%. Brokerages such as Nomura, Citi, HSBC and Morgan Stanley kept Buy or Overweight ratings with targets of Rs 5,425 to Rs 5,700, yet the stock trades at about 68 times earnings. Whether it keeps winning depends on jewellery growth, gold prices and festive demand.

The Titan share price has held up well in a weak market. Foreign selling, high crude prices and rising inflation have pulled the Nifty 50 lower this year, but the Tata group retailer has gained about 10% after a dip following its Q2 business update.

This article explains what supports the Titan share price, what the Q2 FY27 update showed, what brokerages see as the target price, how expensive the stock is and what could stop the run. Where sources disagree, I say so.

The short answer: the business is growing at about 20% or more and brokerages are bullish, but a P/E near 68 leaves little room for error.

Titan Share Price vs the Market in 2026

Measure Figure Source note
Titan share price About Rs 4,487 As of 14 Oct 2026, one report
Titan return in 2026 About +10% Same report
Nifty 50 return in 2026 About -15% Same report
Gap versus Nifty About 25 percentage points My calculation (simple difference)
P/E About 67 to 69 times Premium to the broader market
Market cap About Rs 3.86 lakh crore One report from 7 October

The Titan share price fell about 4.5% on 7 October to a low of Rs 4,334.90 after the Q2 update, and the stock was down over 12% in one month at one point, according to a headline. It has since recovered to about Rs 4,487, which is about 3.5% above that low (my calculation).

Risk: A stock that outperforms in a falling market can also fall faster if buying stops. The Titan share price carries a premium valuation, so it reacts sharply to any miss.

Titan Q2 FY27 Business Update: What Drove the Titan Share Price

Segment Q2 FY27 growth Analyst expectation
Jewellery 21% 25% to 27%
CaratLane 32% 28% (Q1 was 40%)
Watches 30% 10%
Eyecare 28% 15%
Net new stores in the quarter 78 Network now 3,758 stores

Jewellery growth of 21% missed some estimates, and the Titan share price fell. Citi blames a festive shift into the December quarter and weaker coin demand, not an underlying slowdown, and says gold prices rose 46% in the quarter. Another report adds that consumers deferred high-value purchases.

Data note: One report gives domestic sales growth of 25% and another gives jewellery growth of 21%. They measure different things, so use the segment figures above.

Brokerage Target Price Views on Titan

Brokerage Rating Target price (Rs)
Motilal Oswal Buy 6,000
Citi Buy 5,700
CLSA Outperform 5,590
JPMorgan Overweight 5,540
HSBC Buy 5,510
Morgan Stanley Overweight 5,483
Nomura Buy 5,425

The consensus 12-month target price is Rs 5,423, which implies about 22.7% upside according to one report. Against the Rs 4,487 price on 14 October, it is about 20.9% (my calculation). UBS, Goldman Sachs and Macquarie also kept Buy ratings, but I do not have their targets.

Nomura expects FY27 sales and EBIT growth of 19% and 23%, and notes that Titan guides for jewellery sales and EBIT growth of 19% and 18% a year over FY26 to FY30. It also warns of high base effects of 40%, 45% and 38% in the December, March and June quarters, which could slow reported growth.

Can the Titan Share Price Keep Winning? Risks to Watch

Risk Why it matters
High P/E At about 68 times, a small miss can cut the price
Slower store additions Growth must come from higher sales per store
Gold prices Higher prices lift value but can delay buying and cut volumes
High base Growth comparisons get tougher from the December quarter
Market sentiment Foreign selling and crude prices can weigh on all large caps

On the positive side, the company redeemed commercial papers of Rs 825 crore on 8 October, which supports financial flexibility, and Rekha Jhunjhunwala held 5.31% at the end of the June quarter. The next catalysts are the full Q2 earnings release, Dhanteras and Diwali sales and the wedding season.

Risk: Do not treat a bullish brokerage list as a guarantee. The Titan share price can fall even when the business grows.

What to Watch Next for the Titan Share Price

  1. The stock reaction to the full Q2 FY27 results
  2. Dhanteras and Diwali jewellery demand and gold prices
  3. Margin trends in jewellery after lower coin sales
  4. Growth in watches, eyecare and CaratLane after Q1's 40%
  5. Any change in brokerage target price after the results

Conclusion

The Titan share price has defied the slump because growth is strong and brokerages are bullish, with the consensus target price near Rs 5,423. The stock is expensive at about 68 times earnings, so the next quarters need to confirm that jewellery growth and margins hold.
