Quick Answer
TCS paid the highest Tata Group dividend in FY26 at Rs 110 per share, followed by Tata Elxsi at Rs 75 and Tata Communications at Rs 17.50, while Tata Power paid Rs 2.50. TCS's total includes three interim dividends of Rs 11 each, a special dividend of Rs 46 and a final dividend of Rs 31, and it is lower than the Rs 126 paid in FY25. The dividend per share does not show the return to the investor, because the yield depends on the share price, and the amounts for other Tata companies in this guide are final dividends only. Compare the dividend yield, the payout ratio and the growth in earnings before you rank one Tata stock above another.
The Tata Group dividend season in FY26 ended with a wide gap between the companies. A report on nine Tata Group firms said TCS led with Rs 110 per share, Tata Elxsi followed at Rs 75, Tata Communications paid Rs 17.50 and Tata Power paid Rs 2.50. The headline asks which Tata stock paid the highest amount, and the answer on amount is clear.
This guide compares the Tata Group dividend for FY26 company by company, breaks down how TCS reached Rs 110, explains why a high amount per share is not the same as a high return and lists the record dates and checks to run before you buy for the dividend. The report names nine firms but the sources I could verify cover twelve, so I list all twelve and mark where sources disagree.
Anyone who tracks the Tata Group dividend should treat the per share amount as a starting point, and read it together with the share price, the payout and the profit trend.

Tata Group Dividend FY26: Company-wise Amount Per Share
| Company | Dividend per share (Rs) | Record date | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| TCS | 110 (total for FY26) | Several, 16 Jul 2025 to 16 Jan 2026 for the interims and special | Interims, special and final combined |
| Tata Elxsi | 75 | 10 Jun 2026 | Final dividend |
| Tata Communications | 17.50 | 19 Jun 2026 | Final dividend |
| Tata Chemicals | 11 | 9 Jun 2026 | Final dividend |
| Trent | 6 | 12 Jun 2026 | A 1:2 bonus issue was reported with a record date of 4 Jun |
| Tata Steel | 4 | 12 Jun 2026 | Final dividend |
| Tata Motors | 4 | 12 Jun 2026 | One report gives Rs 3 for Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, so verify which entity |
| Voltas | 4 | 12 Jun 2026 | Final dividend |
| Tata Investment Corporation | 3.40 | 10 Jun 2026 | Final dividend |
| Indian Hotels | 3.25 | 23 Jun 2026 | Final dividend |
| Tata Power | 2.50 | 23 Jun 2026 | Final dividend |
Apart from TCS, the amounts are the final dividends reported in the sources, so an interim dividend paid earlier in the year by another company is not included. The Tata Group dividend ranking is therefore exact for TCS and indicative for the rest.
On amount alone, TCS's Tata Group dividend was about 1.47 times Tata Elxsi's (my calculation: 110 / 75) and 44 times Tata Power's (110 / 2.50).

How TCS Reached Rs 110 per Share in FY26
| Payout | Per share (Rs) | Record date |
|---|---|---|
| First interim | 11 | 16 Jul 2025 |
| Second interim | 11 | 15 Oct 2025 |
| Third interim | 11 | 16 Jan 2026 |
| Special dividend | 46 | 16 Jan 2026 |
| Final dividend | 31 | Fixed after the annual general meeting notice |
| Total | 110 |
The special dividend of Rs 46 is a one-time part of the Tata Group dividend from TCS, so it should not be projected forward. Without it, the TCS dividend in FY26 would be Rs 64 per share (my calculation: 110 minus 46). The FY26 total of Rs 110 is also lower than the Rs 126 paid in FY25, a fall of about 12.7% (my calculation).
For FY27 TCS has already declared the first interim Tata Group dividend of Rs 12 per share with a record date of 15 July 2026. At a price of Rs 2,047.75 after the 9 July close, the FY26 total of Rs 110 gave a yield of 5.4%, which matches my calculation of about 5.4%.
Risk: A yield that includes a special dividend overstates what the Tata Group dividend from TCS may pay in a normal year. The base yield without the special payout is closer to 3.1% at the same price (my calculation: 64 / 2,047.75).
Why the Highest Tata Group Dividend Is Not the Highest Yield
In any Tata Group dividend list, dividend per share is a rupee amount, while the dividend yield is that amount divided by the share price. A Rs 75 payout on a stock priced at several thousand rupees yields less than a Rs 2.50 payout on a stock priced at a few hundred rupees can in some cases. One report puts the Tata Power yield at 0.59% and the Indian Hotels yield at 0.49%, both far below the industry average, and says Tata Power's free cash flow is negative.
| Measure | What it tells you | Where it can mislead |
|---|---|---|
| Dividend per share | The cash you receive for each share | Ignores the price you paid |
| Dividend yield | Annual payout as a percentage of price | Rises when the price falls, and includes special payouts |
| Payout ratio | Share of profit paid out | A high ratio may not last |
| Earnings growth | Capacity to raise the payout | Cyclical profits can reverse |
Another report says Tata Sons' dividend income from its core companies fell 10.3% in FY26, and that Tata Motors' margin dropped to 10.7% in Q4 FY26 from 14.8% a year earlier. Shrinking profits can limit the next Tata Group dividend.

How to Use the Tata Group Dividend List Before You Buy
- Confirm the Tata Group dividend amount, the record date and the ex-dividend date on the exchange filing, not from a summary.
- Check whether the payout includes a special dividend, as TCS's Rs 46 does.
- Compute the Tata Group dividend yield at today's price, not at the price in an old article.
- Compare the dividend with the profit and the cash flow to see if it can continue.
- Remember that the price usually adjusts downward by about the dividend on the ex-date.
Risk: Buying a stock only to collect a Tata Group dividend can backfire when the price falls on the ex-date or when earnings weaken. A dividend is a share of profit, and it is not a guaranteed return.
What to Watch Next for the Tata Group Dividend
- The next Tata Group dividend announcements after the TCS Rs 12 declaration.
- Q2 FY27 results from the Tata companies, which decide the next interim payouts.
- Any special Tata Group dividend or buyback announcement.
- Changes in the Tata Sons dividend income and in group profit.
Conclusion
TCS paid the highest Tata Group dividend in FY26 at Rs 110 per share, with Tata Elxsi at Rs 75 and Tata Communications at Rs 17.50, but the Rs 46 special dividend inflates the TCS figure and the amount per share says little about yield. Compare the yield, the payout and the profit trend, and verify each figure on the exchange filing before you act on any Tata Group dividend.

Ans. One list shows Rs 4 for Tata Motors and another reports Rs 3 for Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles. They may refer to different entities after the demerger, so verify on the exchange.
