Just Dial Shares Skyrocket 13% as Volume Soars Massively 115 Times: More Returns Ahead or Something Else? Experts View

The Just Dial share price jumped to an intraday high of Rs 802 on 19 Oct 2026, up about 12.6% from the previous close of Rs 712.45 on BSE, after opening at Rs 716.45. By 3:23 PM IST it had eased to Rs 732, up about 2.6%, so most of the spike faded. I could not confirm the 115 times volume figure in the headline and found no company announcement for the move. Market capitalisation is about Rs 6,059 crore on exchange data, close to the Rs 6,022 crore of cash and investments reported in June.

Just Dial Shares Skyrocket 13% as Volume Soars Massively 115 Times: More Returns Ahead or Something Else? Experts View

Quick Answer

The Just Dial share price spiked about 12.6% to Rs 802 on heavy volume and then gave back about 8.7% from that high, ending the afternoon near Rs 732, up about 2.6%. I found no company announcement on 19 Oct, so the reason for the jump is unconfirmed, and the headline volume of 115 times could not be verified, since one report put delivery volume at about 3.6 times its five-day average. The background is a cash pile of Rs 6,022 crore, a new CEO since 1 Aug and Kotak Institutional Equities' Buy rating with a Rs 1,175 target reported in August. Whether more returns lie ahead depends on how the new management uses the cash and whether growth in collections and profit continues.

The Just Dial share price has now risen from about Rs 676 on 13 Jul, when it hit the 20% upper circuit after Q1 FY27 results, to Rs 732, and it trades about 12.7% below its 52-week high of Rs 838.30 and about 52% above its low of Rs 480.50 (my calculation). A July report cited a 52-week high of Rs 957.90, which has probably rolled out of the 52-week window, so I use the exchange quote.

This guide covers the live snapshot, what the volume data shows, the cash and valuation picture, the Q1 FY27 numbers, the management change, analyst views and the risks. It is educational and not a recommendation to buy or sell the share.

Just Dial Share Price Today: Live Snapshot

Item Detail on 19 Oct 2026
Previous close Rs 712.45 on BSE and Rs 713.25 on NSE
Open Rs 716.45
Intraday high of the Just Dial share price Rs 802.00, about 12.6% above the BSE close (my calculation)
Just Dial share price at 3:23 PM IST Rs 732.00, up about 2.6%
Intraday low on NSE Rs 708.40
Fall from the day's high About 8.7% (my calculation)
Volume at 3:23 PM IST About 1.73 crore shares on NSE and about 13.5 lakh on BSE

The Just Dial share price opened with a small gap of about 0.6% and then spiked on heavy volume before the move reversed. The headline says 13%, but exchange data show the Just Dial share price peaked at about 12.6%, which is the move at the high and not the move at the close.

Volume Surge Behind the Just Dial Share Price Spike

Measure Figure Source note
Headline volume claim 115 times From the headline; I could not verify the base period
NSE volume by 3:23 PM IST About 1.73 crore shares Exchange data
Volume by 10:39 AM IST About 42.8 lakh shares, value about Rs 335 crore MarketsMOJO report
Delivery volume on 16 Oct About 1.67 lakh shares, up about 262% About 3.6 times the five-day average (my calculation)
Cumulative gain over two sessions About 17.0% by 10:39 AM IST MarketsMOJO report

A multiple such as 115 times depends on the comparison period, and the figures I could verify give a lower multiple, so treat the headline number as unconfirmed. What is clear is that volume was heavy at the open, and that the Just Dial share price reversed from its high while volume stayed high, a pattern that often marks profit booking.

Cash, Shareholding and Valuation: What Supports the Just Dial Share Price

Item Figure Note
Cash and investments at 30 Jun 2026 Rs 6,022.1 crore Company data via a July report
Market capitalisation About Rs 6,059 crore Exchange data, apparently at the previous close; about Rs 6,200 crore at Rs 732 (my calculation)
Price to earnings About 12.0 times Trailing EPS of about Rs 59.21; the same source lists an industry P/E of about 106.6
Price to book About 1.2 times Book value per share about Rs 600.42
Return on equity About 9.7% Debt to equity about 0.02
Promoter holding at Sep 2026 74.14% Reliance Retail Ventures 63.83%, VSS Mani 7.89%, Anita Mani 2.26%

The market capitalisation is almost the same as the cash and investments, which means the market values the operating business at close to zero (my calculation), a point a July report also made. That comparison needs care, because the figures are from different dates, not all the cash can be paid out, and Reliance Retail Ventures holds a majority. Net profit of Rs 166.2 crore in Q1 is about 1.9 times operating EBITDA of Rs 87.4 crore, so I infer that income on the cash pile supplies a large part of profit.

Q1 FY27 Results and the Management Change Behind the Just Dial Share Price

Metric Q1 FY27 Change
Revenue from operations Rs 327.5 crore Up 9.9% year on year and 6.6% quarter on quarter
Operating EBITDA Rs 87.4 crore Up 1.1%
EBITDA margin 26.7% Down about 221 basis points quarter on quarter
Net profit Rs 166.2 crore Up 4.1% year on year
Collections Not stated in rupees Up 13.7% year on year, per one report
Business listings and visitors More than 5.61 crore listings; 19.29 crore quarterly unique visitors As of 30 Jun 2026

The results led to a 20% upper circuit at Rs 676.85 on 13 Jul and a further 13% intraday rise on 14 Jul. Founder VSS Mani stepped down as managing director and CEO on 31 Jul, and Dinkar Ayilavarapu took over on 1 Aug, with Dinesh Taluja as CFO since 11 Jul. Reliance Retail Ventures has held a majority stake since 2021, so any decision on using the cash will also involve Reliance Retail. Margin pressure came mainly from employee costs, which rose 11%, so the Just Dial share price now depends on whether the new team can lift growth without losing margin.

What Analysts Say About the Just Dial Share Price

Source View Date and note
Kotak Institutional Equities Buy, target Rs 1,175; expects new management to focus on merchant acquisition and return on investment Reported 28 Aug 2026, when the stock rose 10% to Rs 704.65 on BSE
MarketsMOJO Hold, upgraded from Sell on 6 Oct 2026 Stock above its 5, 20, 50, 100 and 200 day moving averages
Upside to the Kotak target About 60.5% from Rs 732 My calculation; the target may have changed since August

I did not find an expert comment dated 19 Oct, so the experts' view promised in the headline cannot be quoted here. The two ratings above date from earlier, and the gap between Kotak's Rs 1,175 target and the current Just Dial share price shows how far one broker sees the stock re-rating.

Risk: A reversal from a 12.6% spike on unexplained volume can continue, growth in collections was only 1.6% in FY26 per one report, margins are falling and a large part of profit comes from treasury income. The Just Dial share price can also swing on any news on how the cash is used.

What to Watch Next for the Just Dial Share Price

  1. Any exchange filing or management comment that explains the 19 Oct volume, since none was found
  2. Q2 FY27 results, whose date I did not find, for collections growth and EBITDA margin against 26.7%
  3. Plans from the new CEO on merchant acquisition and pricing that could move the Just Dial share price
  4. Any decision on using the Rs 6,022 crore of cash through dividends or a buyback, which has not been announced
  5. Whether the Just Dial share price holds the Rs 708 to Rs 716 opening area

Conclusion

The Just Dial share price spiked about 12.6% to Rs 802 and then faded to about Rs 732, on heavy volume that I could verify only in part and with no announcement found. The stock rests on a large cash pile, a new CEO and an older Buy target, so check the cash use, growth and margins before drawing conclusions about the Just Dial share price.
