IndusInd Bank shares rose as much as 2.35% to Rs 854.65 on NSE on Monday, 26 Oct 2026, after the lender reported Q2 FY27 net profit of Rs 1,242 crore against a loss of Rs 437 crore a year ago. The stock traded near Rs 839.45 around 1:01 PM, up 0.53% from Friday's close of Rs 835. Brokerage targets span Rs 760 to Rs 1,180, and the net interest margin fell to 3.23%.

IndusInd Bank Shares Rise Over 2% After Q2 Results: Should You Buy, Sell or Hold? Brokerages Weigh In, Check Target Price

Quick Answer

IndusInd Bank shares rose after Q2 FY27 because profit swung to Rs 1,242 crore from a loss, provisions fell 54% year on year and gross NPA dropped to 2.73%, though the net interest margin fell to 3.23% on FCNR(B) deposits. Brokerages are split, with Buy calls from HSBC and Jefferies, a Hold from CLSA and Sell or Underperform calls from UBS and Macquarie, and the six targets I could verify run from Rs 760 to Rs 1,180 with a median of Rs 955 (my calculation). The stock trades at about 1.0 times book value and about 22% below its 52-week high, so the decision hinges on margin recovery. This is educational and not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold.

The 2% gain in the headline was the morning peak, and by about 1:01 PM the IndusInd Bank share had given back most of it. That fade matters for the IndusInd Bank buy sell or hold decision, because the market is clearly weighing a strong profit and asset quality improvement against a falling margin.

This article covers the day's move in the IndusInd Bank share, the IndusInd Bank Q2 results, every brokerage call I could verify, valuation, technical levels and the risks. It is educational and not advice.

IndusInd Bank Share Price Today: The 2% Rise Fades

IndusInd Bank share: measure (NSE, about 1:01 PM) Reading
Last price Rs 839.45, up 0.53%
Previous close (23 Oct) Rs 835.00, down 1.82% that day
Open Rs 832.60
Day high and low Rs 854.65 and Rs 832.60
Day high versus previous close Up 2.35% (my calculation)
Volume About 16.5 lakh shares
52-week high and low Rs 1,077.85 and Rs 750.50
Distance from 52-week high About 22.1% below (my calculation)
Distance from 52-week low About 11.9% above (my calculation)

The IndusInd Bank Q2 results came out on 23 Oct, and the IndusInd Bank share closed that day at Rs 835, down 1.82%. On Monday morning it climbed about 2% on BSE to Rs 852.10 by 10:10 AM, according to a news report, and then drifted back as sellers appeared near Rs 850 to Rs 855.

The stock has also fallen about 7.8% from Rs 906.10 on 6 Oct to Rs 835 on 23 Oct (my calculation), so the IndusInd Bank Q2 results arrived after a steady slide and the day's bounce is small against that fall.

Q2 FY27 Results Behind the IndusInd Bank Share Move

IndusInd Bank Q2 FY27 item Q2 FY27 Comparison
Net profit Rs 1,242 crore Loss of Rs 437 crore in Q2 FY26
Net interest income (NII) Rs 4,569 crore Up about 4% year on year; down about 2% on Q1
Net interest margin (NIM) 3.23% 3.57% in Q1; 3.32% a year ago
Other income Rs 2,248 crore Up 36% year on year
Net revenue Rs 6,817 crore Rs 6,060 crore a year ago, up about 12.5% (my calculation)
Operating expenses Rs 3,943 crore Rs 4,013 crore a year ago
Pre-provision operating profit Rs 2,874 crore Rs 2,047 crore a year ago, up about 40%
Provisions and contingencies Rs 1,223 crore Down 54% year on year; down 12% on Q1

The profit in the IndusInd Bank Q2 results is a turnaround from a year-ago loss, and it came from three places: fee and other income up 36%, lower expenses and provisions down by more than half. NII grew only about 4%, and the margin fell 34 basis points from Q1, so the core lending spread is the weak spot. One report says net profit rose 20% from the previous quarter and another says 51%, so I have not used a quarter-on-quarter profit figure.

Provisions of Rs 1,223 crore still take about 43% of pre-provision profit (my calculation), so credit cost remains a large line even after the fall. Brokerages such as UBS and Jefferies point to fee income and lower credit costs as the reason profit beat estimates.

Asset Quality, Loans and Deposits at IndusInd Bank

IndusInd Bank share: balance sheet item (30 Sep 2026) Reading Comparison
Gross NPA ratio 2.73% 3.25% in Q1; 3.60% a year ago
Net NPA ratio 0.83% 0.95% in Q1; 1.04% a year ago
Gross slippages Rs 1,460 crore Rs 1,660 crore in Q1; Rs 2,537 crore a year ago
Provision coverage ratio About 70% About 72% in Q1 and a year ago, as reported
Loan book Rs 3.63 lakh crore Up 11% year on year and on Q1
Deposits Rs 4.28 lakh crore Up 10% year on year; up 3% on Q1
Capital adequacy ratio 16.59% 17.10% in the earlier period
Liquidity coverage ratio (average) 127% 132% in the earlier period

Asset quality behind the IndusInd Bank share has improved in a straight line. Gross NPA has come down from 3.60% to 2.73% in a year, and gross slippages have fallen from Rs 2,537 crore to Rs 1,460 crore. The provision coverage ratio slipped slightly to about 70%, which analysts watch because a lower cushion matters if slippages rise again.

Growth has also picked up for the IndusInd Bank share story. Loans rose 11% in the quarter, and the bank mobilised $3.51 billion of FCNR(B) deposits through the RBI swap window, about 2.2% of the scheme against a 1.5% share of overall deposits, according to CEO Rajiv Anand. The consumer banking book grew over 38%, which includes Rs 16,564 crore linked to FCNR(B).

Buy, Sell or Hold: Brokerages on the IndusInd Bank Share Price Target

IndusInd Bank share: brokerage (26 Oct 2026) Rating Target Versus Rs 839.45 (my calculation)
HSBC Buy Rs 1,180 Up 40.6%
Jefferies Buy Rs 1,130 (cut) Up 34.6%
Bernstein Outperform Rs 1,000 Up 19.1%
CLSA Hold Rs 910 Up 8.4%
UBS Sell Rs 870 Up 3.6%
Macquarie Underperform Rs 760 Down 9.5%

The six targets average about Rs 975 and the median is Rs 955, which is about 16.1% and 13.8% above the current price (my calculation). The headline gives a range of Rs 950 to Rs 1,200, and I could not retrieve the calls behind the Rs 1,200 end, while the Macquarie and UBS targets sit below Rs 950. The gap between Rs 760 and Rs 1,180 shows how divided the street is on the IndusInd Bank share price target, and on the IndusInd Bank buy sell or hold question.

The bulls on the IndusInd Bank share, HSBC and Jefferies, cite the asset quality improvement, fee income and lower credit costs, and HSBC raised its FY27 to FY29 earnings estimates by 5% to 10%. Jefferies cut its target because of tighter bancassurance fee rules and slightly higher credit cost estimates. The bears, UBS and Macquarie, point to the margin, weak CASA deposits and funding costs, and say the 1.7% medium-term return on assets guidance could prove hard to reach.

Valuation and Shareholding of IndusInd Bank

IndusInd Bank share: valuation (data provider) Reading
Market capitalisation About Rs 65,059 crore
Price to book 1.00
Book value per share Rs 838.32
Trailing price to earnings 49.20 against an industry level of 11.47
Trailing earnings per share Rs 16.97
Return on equity 4.59%
Dividend yield 0.18%

At 1.0 times book value, the IndusInd Bank share price trades at its net asset value, which is low for a private bank but reflects a low return on equity of 4.59%. The trailing price to earnings of 49.20 looks high only because trailing earnings still include the weak quarters, and the data provider's industry level of 11.47 is weighted toward public sector banks.

Shareholding in the IndusInd Bank share at the end of September 2026 was 15.82% with promoters, 30.47% with foreign institutions, 41.29% with domestic institutions and 12.43% with the public. Domestic institutional holding has risen from 31.95% in September 2025, and the public holding has fallen from 17.91%, so mutual funds and insurers have been buyers during the recovery.

The daily trend of the IndusInd Bank share price is down. The price sits under both averages and under the SuperTrend upper band, and the stock is close to the lower Bollinger band at Rs 828.60. A close above Rs 911.02 would be the first sign of a trend change, and a close below Rs 824.73 would break the SuperTrend support. These are indicator readings and not forecasts.

Buy, Sell or Hold: A Framework by Investor Type

Investor type Things to weigh What to check
Long-term investor Asset quality gains, 11% loan growth and a price at 1.0 times book Whether NIM recovers in the next two quarters
Short-term trader A down trend with resistance near Rs 855 to Rs 911 Support near Rs 832 and Rs 825
Existing holder Brokerage calls split from Sell to Buy Your own entry price and risk limit

None of these rows is a recommendation. The same IndusInd Bank Q2 results lead to targets from Rs 760 to Rs 1,180 for the IndusInd Bank share, which is a reminder that the decision depends on how much weight you give to the margin.

Risks to Check Before You Buy, Sell or Hold

  1. Margin risk. For the IndusInd Bank share, NIM fell to 3.23% and brokerages flag weak CASA and funding costs as limits on recovery.
  2. Credit cost. For the IndusInd Bank share, provisions still take about 43% of pre-provision profit, and Jefferies assumes slightly higher credit costs.
  3. Capital. For the IndusInd Bank share, the capital adequacy ratio eased to 16.59% from 17.10%.
  4. Fee rules. For the IndusInd Bank share, tighter bancassurance fee rules can cut fee income, which carried this quarter's profit.
  5. Trend. The IndusInd Bank share is in a downtrend and the 2% morning gain faded within hours.

Conclusion

The IndusInd Bank share rose as much as 2.35% after a return to profit and better asset quality, but the gain faded to about 0.5% as the margin fell to 3.23%. Brokerage targets from Rs 760 to Rs 1,180 show a divided street, so read the reports, watch the levels near Rs 832 and Rs 855, and decide according to your own risk profile.
