BHEL Q2 Results 2026 Today: Should You Buy, Sell or Hold PSU Stock Ahead of Earnings Announcement?

Quick Answer

BHEL's board meets on Wednesday 14 October 2026 to approve the BHEL Q2 results, and estimates point to revenue of Rs 9,236 crore to Rs 9,452 crore, up 23% to 26%, with net profit up 65% to 78%. One estimate set sees EBITDA of Rs 881 crore at a 9.5% margin and net profit of Rs 654.4 crore against Rs 368 crore a year earlier. The BHEL share price was Rs 431.65 at 1:44 pm on 13 October, about 5% below the 52-week high of Rs 455.95, and the stock is up 48% in 2026, so expectations are high. Order inflow, which one report says may be lacklustre, is the key number to watch.

BHEL, the state-owned power equipment maker, reports its September quarter numbers today. After a turnaround in Q1 and a rally to a 52-week high, the BHEL Q2 results will test whether the recovery is lasting.

This guide explains the BHEL Q2 results estimates, the Q1 FY27 base, the order book, the share price and a buy, sell or hold framework. Where sources conflict or I calculate a figure, I say so.

The key point is that the stock already reflects good news, so an in-line result may not be enough to lift the BHEL share price.

BHEL Q2 Results: Estimates vs Last Year

Metric Estimate (Q2 FY27) Q2 FY26 Growth
Revenue Rs 9,236 crore Rs 7,511 crore About 23%
EBITDA Rs 881 crore Rs 581 crore About 52% (my calculation)
EBITDA margin 9.5% 7.7% +1.8 percentage points
Net profit Rs 654.4 crore Rs 368 crore About 78%

A second preview of the BHEL Q2 results, headlined by Zeebiz, sees revenue rising 26% to Rs 9,452 crore and net profit up 65%, which would be about Rs 607 crore on the Rs 368 crore base (my calculation). Together, the two previews give a net profit range of about Rs 607 crore to Rs 654 crore.

Compared with Q1 FY27 revenue of Rs 7,697.72 crore, the BHEL Q2 results estimate of Rs 9,236 crore is about 20% higher (my calculation), and the net profit estimate is about 74% above Q1's Rs 376.71 crore.

Data note: The source of the first estimate set is not named, so treat the figures as indicative.

Risk: A miss in the BHEL Q2 results on revenue or margin can send the BHEL share price down sharply after a 48% rise this year.

BHEL Q1 FY27: The Base for the BHEL Q2 Results

Item Q1 FY27 Note
Revenue Rs 7,697.72 crore Up 40.3% from Rs 5,486.91 crore
Net profit Rs 376.71 crore Against a loss of Rs 455.50 crore a year earlier
Profit before tax Rs 507.70 crore Against a loss of Rs 608.04 crore
Power segment revenue Rs 5,919.50 crore Up 51.8%; about 76.9% of revenue
Industry segment revenue Rs 1,778.22 crore Up 12%; segment result down 20.9% to Rs 242.61 crore
Overdue Sudan receivable Rs 196 crore Treated as recoverable; full provision would cut PBT by Rs 177 crore

BHEL turned profitable in Q1 after losses a year earlier, and one report called it a return to profit after eight years of difficulty. The BHEL Q2 results need to confirm that Q1 was not a one-off.

BHEL Order Book and Order Inflow Ahead of the BHEL Q2 Results

Item Figure
Order book (30 June 2026) Rs 2,60,255 crore, up 27%
Q1 order inflow Rs 26,745 crore (power Rs 22,625 crore, exports Rs 2,353 crore, industry Rs 1,767 crore)
Order book mix Power 81%, industry 17%, exports 2%
Largest-ever export order Eight gas turbine generator packages for a refinery and polypropylene plant

The order book is about 8.5 times annualised Q1 revenue (my calculation: Rs 2,60,255 crore divided by about Rs 30,791 crore), which gives many years of work. The concern is new inflow: one preview says Q2 inflow may remain lacklustre, which could limit refilling of the pipeline.

BHEL Share Price Ahead of the BHEL Q2 Results

Item Level
Price at 1:44 pm on 13 Oct Rs 431.65, down 1.88%
Day range Rs 426.15 to Rs 438.30
52-week high (7 Oct 2026) Rs 455.95; the price is about 5.3% below it (my calculation)
Return in 2026 Up 48.10%
One-year return Up 83.79%

Implied shares in issue are about 348.8 crore (my calculation: Q1 profit of Rs 376.71 crore divided by EPS of Rs 1.08), so the market value at Rs 431.65 is about Rs 1.5 lakh crore.

Buy, Sell or Hold BHEL Before the Results?

If you Consider
Hold BHEL already Hold and wait for the BHEL Q2 results order inflow and margin; avoid adding before the print
Want to buy Wait for the results and the reaction; the price is near its high
Plan to sell Check whether the gain is large enough to book, since expectations are high

Risk: Results days such as the BHEL Q2 results can bring sharp moves in both directions. Position size matters more than the direction call.
