Rentomojo Share Price Jumps 38% in a Month Since IPO: 5 Key Drivers

Rentomojo shares rose more than 9% to touch Rs 557 on the NSE after its first results as a listed company, about 38% above the issue price of Rs 404 and more than 15% above the listing price of Rs 482.45. Revenue rose 51.3% to Rs 126.3 crore, but profit after tax fell 38.6% to Rs 7.8 crore after a Rs 11.3 crore exceptional loss from a warehouse fire. The five drivers in the headline are paywalled, so the ones below are my reading.

Quick Answer

Rentomojo shares touched Rs 557 on the NSE, about 38% above the issue price of Rs 404 and more than 15% above the listing price of Rs 482.45 from 17 September 2026. The rise followed its first results as a listed company, which showed revenue up 51.3% to Rs 126.3 crore and EBITDA up 54% to Rs 51.42 crore, a margin of 41%. Profit after tax fell 38.6% to Rs 7.8 crore because of an exceptional loss of Rs 11.3 crore linked to a fire at a warehouse. The headline’s five key drivers are not available to me, so I give five drivers that the data supports and mark each as my reading.

Rentomojo rents out furniture, appliances and other household goods and provides delivery, installation and maintenance. Its issue opened on 9 September and closed on 11 September 2026, and it listed on 17 September at Rs 482.45.

This guide covers the numbers, the five drivers, the valuation questions and the risks of buying after a rise. It is educational and not a recommendation.

Rentomojo Share Price: From Issue to Rs 557

Item Figure Check
Issue price Rs 404 Reported
Listing price on NSE (17 Sep) Rs 482.45 About 19.4% above issue (my calculation)
High touched Rs 557 More than 9% up on the day
Gain over issue price About 38% 557 / 404 = 1.379 (my check)
Gain over listing price About 15.5% 557 / 482.45 = 1.155 (my check)
Subscription Bids for 158.68 crore shares against 2.18 crore on offer About 72.8 times (my calculation)

The gain of 38% is measured from the issue price to the day’s high and not to a closing price, so it can be lower on a closing basis. The time from listing to the high was under a month.

Risk: A rise to an intraday high is not the same as a closing gain, and the price can pull back quickly.

Rentomojo Results: Strong Growth, Weaker Profit

Metric Latest Year earlier Change
Revenue from operations Rs 126.3 crore Rs 83.5 crore Up 51.3%
EBITDA Rs 51.42 crore Rs 33.39 crore Up 54%
EBITDA margin 41% 40% Up about 1 point
Profit after tax Rs 7.8 crore Rs 12.7 crore Down 38.6%
Exceptional loss Rs 11.3 crore None reported Warehouse fire

The report calls these Rentomojo’s first results as a listed company and refers to the June quarter, so I use that label and not Q2. The exceptional loss of Rs 11.3 crore is larger than the profit of Rs 7.8 crore, so without it profit would have been about Rs 19.1 crore before tax effects (my rough calculation, which ignores tax).

Risk: Insurance recovery for the fire is not mentioned in the report, so I do not assume any.

Five Drivers Behind the Rentomojo Share Price Rise (My Reading)

Driver Support in the data
1. Fast revenue growth Revenue up 51.3% to Rs 126.3 crore
2. High operating margin EBITDA margin of 41%, up from 40%
3. One time profit hit The fire loss of Rs 11.3 crore is exceptional, so investors may treat it as non recurring
4. Strong demand at the issue Bids for about 72.8 times the shares on offer
5. Listing momentum Stock trades above both the issue and listing prices

The first two drivers come straight from the results. The third is a judgement that the market is looking past the fire, and the fourth and fifth are about sentiment. The headline’s own list may differ, because it is paywalled.

The Rentomojo rental model earns repeat revenue from the same assets, which can lift margins as the fleet is used more. That is a general feature of the model and not a finding from this report.

Risk: Sentiment drivers can reverse faster than operating drivers.

Valuation Questions for Rentomojo Investors

Question Answer so far
Price to earnings Not calculated; profit was hit by a one time loss and I did not find the share count
Lock-in expiry Not found; shares can come to market when lock-ins end
Brokerage targets None found
Capital needs Asset heavy rental model needs spending on inventory; not detailed in the report

Without a share count and a clean profit figure, I cannot say if the Rentomojo price of Rs 557 is high or low. Investors should look for the earnings per share and the cash flow in the full results.

What to Watch Next

  1. The September quarter results and the second half of the year
  2. The insurance claim and any further fire related costs
  3. Lock-in expiry dates and block deals
  4. Brokerage initiations and targets
  5. Whether the stock holds above the listing price of Rs 482.45

Conclusion

Rentomojo shares are about 38% above the issue price on strong revenue and margin data, even as profit fell on a one time loss. The five drivers are my reading, and the valuation is unclear without more data.
