Nifty Expiry Today Prediction, 27 Oct: What Lies Ahead for the Index? Option Data, Support, Resistance and Key Levels

Nifty expiry today falls on Tuesday, 27 Oct 2026, with the index at 22,787.55 at 10:11 AM, up 0.15% from Monday’s close of 22,753.20 (data provider and my calculation). The option chain shows the heaviest call open interest at the 23,000 strike and the heaviest put open interest at 22,500, with a put-call ratio of 1.01 for the weekly expiry. GIFT Nifty pointed to a weak start near 22,663, but the index recovered from the open and now trades above the previous close.

Quick Answer

Nifty expiry today looks range-bound on the option data, with put support at 22,700 and 22,500 and call resistance at 22,800 and 23,000, and a put-call ratio of 1.01. Analysts see support near 22,400 to 22,380 and resistance at 22,800 to 22,850, with 23,200 above, according to the Kotak Neo pre-market note. The US Federal Reserve meeting that starts today and the oil price near $115 are the outside triggers that can break the range. This is educational and not a recommendation to trade options.

Nifty expiry today is the Nifty weekly expiry, the contract expiry for the Nifty 50, and the day often brings sharp moves because option premiums decay quickly and writers adjust positions. This article reads the option chain at 10:11 AM, sets it beside the support and resistance levels from analysts, and checks how the early call played out.

The aim of this Nifty prediction is to describe where the market stands on Nifty expiry today, not to predict a close. Option data is a snapshot that changes by the minute, so use the figures as reference points. It is educational and not advice.

Nifty Expiry Today: Where the Index Stands at 10:11 AM

Nifty expiry today: measure Level Comment (my calculation where marked)
Nifty 50 previous close (26 Oct) 22,753.20 Up 153.20 points, or 0.68%, and the close of a four-session losing streak
GIFT Nifty (early morning) About 22,663 to 22,672 Down about 81 to 110 points on different bases
Nifty 50 at 9:22 AM 22,671.55 Down 0.36% soon after the open
Nifty 50 at 10:11 AM 22,787.55 Up 34.35 points, or 0.15%, from the previous close
At-the-money strike 22,800 Nearest strike to the spot
Lot size 65 Per the option chain
India VIX (previous close) 17.16 Up 1.78%, per a morning note

The opening call was negative, and the index did dip, but it recovered more than 115 points from 22,671.55 by 10:11 AM (my calculation). That recovery is why Nifty expiry today has started on a firmer note than the GIFT Nifty signal suggested. Nifty IT was the weakest sector at 9:30 AM, down 1.7%, while the Midcap 100 and Smallcap 100 were up 0.29% and 1.34% at the open.

Nifty Expiry Today Option Chain: Call Wall and Put Support

Nifty expiry today: strike Call open interest (units) Put open interest (units)
22,500 3,786,055 25,569,375
22,600 4,558,970 21,077,160
22,700 14,502,475 24,451,960
22,750 12,637,300 12,571,650
22,800 22,364,745 11,829,805
22,900 16,673,215 3,117,400
23,000 29,588,455 2,883,335
23,200 16,919,500 996,385

In the Nifty option chain, the call side is heaviest at 23,000, with about 2.96 crore units, or about 4.55 lakh lots (my calculation), followed by 22,800 and 23,200. The put side is heaviest at 22,500 with about 2.56 crore units, followed by 22,700 and 22,600. In plain words, option writers are selling calls around 22,800 to 23,000 and puts around 22,500 to 22,700, which marks that band as the zone they expect the index to stay in on Nifty expiry today.

Total call open interest was about 31.83 crore units and total put open interest about 32.26 crore units, giving a put-call ratio of 1.01. A ratio near one is neutral, and it says that neither side dominates. The Nifty option chain data covers 9:15 AM to 10:11 AM and will change through the day.

What Can Move the Nifty on Expiry Day

Nifty expiry today: trigger Detail Why it matters
US Federal Reserve Two-day meeting starts Tuesday; decision due Wednesday; hold expected A change in tone can move global markets before the decision
Crude oil Brent near $115 in two reports and $109.84 in another at 7 AM High oil raises India’s import bill and inflation risk
Foreign investors One report shows sales of Rs 1,462 crore on Monday; another shows buying of Rs 887.65 crore on Friday Flows can swing the index late in the day
Results 110 companies report, including L&T, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj Auto and Tata Steel Index heavyweights can move the Nifty after results
Rupee About 95.17 to 95.22 per US dollar A weak rupee adds to foreign selling pressure

Sources differ on oil and flows. The Kotak Neo and HDFC Sky notes put Brent near $114.7 to $114.8, while a DSIJ note shows $109.84 at 7 AM, and the foreign investor figures belong to different days. For Nifty expiry today, treat these as the general picture of high oil and mixed flows and not as exact levels.

How the Early Nifty Expiry Today Call Has Played Out

Nifty expiry today: checkpoint Early view Actual by 10:11 AM
Opening direction Weak start; GIFT Nifty down about 0.4% to 0.5% Opened lower; Sensex at 73,281, down 325 points at 9:19 AM
Support at 22,400 Likely to be tested Not tested; the low so far is above it
Resistance at 22,800 Capped on rallies Index at 22,787.55, just below
Sector tone IT weak after global tech moves Nifty IT down 1.7% at 9:30 AM
Broader market Cautious Midcap 100 up 0.29% and Smallcap 100 up 1.34% at the open

So far Nifty expiry today has been more resilient than the early signals. The recovery to near 22,800 puts the index right at the first call resistance on Nifty expiry today, which makes the next hour a test. A move above 22,850 would challenge the call writers, while a slip below 22,700 would test the put support.

Remember that on Nifty expiry today, the Nifty weekly expiry, option premiums can swing wildly in minutes, and a small move in the index can wipe out the value of an option. This article does not suggest any trade.

Conclusion: Nifty Expiry Today Points to a Range Unless a Trigger Appears

Nifty expiry today shows the index at 22,787.55 inside a band that option writers have marked, with put support at 22,700 and 22,500 and call resistance at 22,800 and 23,000, and a put-call ratio of 1.01. On Nifty expiry today the Fed meeting, oil near $115 and foreign flows are the triggers that can break the range. Treat this Nifty prediction as a set of reference points, manage risk strictly on an expiry day, and follow your own plan.
