Dividend, Stock Split, Buyback: Last Chance to Buy Today for VRL Logistics, JSW Dulux and Angel One Shares

Today, Wednesday 21 Oct 2026, is the last chance to buy shares that qualify for four corporate actions with a record date of 22 Oct: the VRL Logistics buyback of up to 87.5 lakh shares at Rs 320, the JSW Dulux 1:10 stock split, the Angel One interim dividend of Rs 1.40 and the Tips Music interim dividend of Rs 6.50. Under T+1 settlement, shares bought on 22 Oct itself do not qualify. Prices are as of about 10:30 AM IST.

Quick Answer

The last chance to buy for the 22 Oct record date is today, 21 Oct, because shares bought on 21 Oct settle on 22 Oct and the ex-date is the same as the record date. VRL Logistics is at Rs 284, about 12.7% below its Rs 320 buyback price, JSW Dulux is at Rs 3,007.60 ahead of its 1:10 split, Angel One is at Rs 298.05 and Tips Music is at Rs 758.70. The Elecon, ICICI Prudential AMC and MRPL dividends had their record date on 21 Oct, so their last chance to buy was 19 Oct, since the market was shut on 20 Oct for Dussehra. Each action has different rules, and a buyback in particular does not guarantee that your shares will be accepted.

The last chance to buy before a record date matters because the exchanges set the ex-date at the same day as the record date under T+1. A buyer on the ex-date does not get the dividend, the split shares or the right to tender.

This guide sets out the four actions, the live prices, how each one works, what to check and the risks. It is educational and not a recommendation to buy or sell any share.

Last Chance to Buy: The Four Actions With a 22 Oct Record Date

Company Action Terms Price at about 10:30 AM IST
VRL Logistics Buyback Up to 87.5 lakh shares (5% of paid-up capital) at Rs 320, tender offer, capped at Rs 280 crore Rs 284, down 1.0%
JSW Dulux Stock split 1:10, face value Rs 10 to Re 1 Rs 3,007.60, down 1.7%
Angel One Interim dividend Rs 1.40 per share Rs 298.05, down 1.6%
Tips Music Interim dividend Rs 6.50 per share Rs 758.70, down 1.7%

All four stocks were lower in early trade even as the Sensex and Nifty rose. The last chance to buy these shares comes with no guarantee of a gain, since the prices adjust for the split and the dividends on the record date.

VRL Logistics Buyback: How the Offer Works

Item Detail
Buyback price Rs 320 per share, about 12.7% above Rs 284 (my calculation)
Size Up to 87.5 lakh shares, capped at Rs 280 crore
Route Tender offer on a proportionate basis
Small shareholders At least 15% reserved, or the number based on their holdings if higher
Promoters Have said they will not participate
Record date 22 Oct 2026, revised from an earlier date
Funding Free reserves, surplus funds, cash balances or internal accruals, no borrowed funds

The last chance to buy VRL Logistics for the tender is today, and in a tender offer the company buys back only part of the shares tendered, in proportion to the entitlement ratio. If you buy 100 shares at Rs 284 and 25 are accepted at Rs 320, you receive Rs 8,000, and the other 75 shares are worth Rs 21,300 if the price holds, a total of Rs 29,300 against Rs 28,400, or about 3.2% higher (my illustration, assuming a 25% acceptance). The actual ratio was not given in the sources I read.

Risk: If the acceptance ratio is low, the share price can fall after the record date, because the market no longer has the Rs 320 offer to support it.

JSW Dulux Stock Split: What Changes and What Does Not

Item Before the split After the split (my calculation)
Face value Rs 10 Re 1
Shares held 100 1,000
Price per share About Rs 3,007.60 About Rs 300.76
Value of holding About Rs 3,00,760 About Rs 3,00,760

A stock split does not change the value of your holding or the company’s market capitalisation, so the last chance to buy for the split is about liquidity and not about value. Shareholders approved the split by postal ballot, and the company links it to the JSW Paints deal for a 60.76% stake in Akzo Nobel India, which was renamed JSW Dulux. The stock trades between Rs 2,658.70 and Rs 3,745 over 52 weeks, so it is about 20% below its high (my calculation). The last chance to buy JSW Dulux before the split is today.

Angel One and Tips Music: The Dividend Numbers

Item Angel One Tips Music
Interim dividend Rs 1.40 Rs 6.50
Price at about 10:30 AM IST Rs 298.05 Rs 758.70
Payout as a share of price (my calculation) About 0.47% About 0.86%
Record date and ex-date 22 Oct 2026 22 Oct 2026

These payouts are small compared with the price, so no one should treat the last chance to buy as a reason to take the stock for the dividend alone. On the ex-date the price opens lower by about the dividend amount, so the payout is not an extra gain.

Dividends With a 21 Oct Record Date and the Next Last Chance to Buy on 22 Oct

Date Company Action
21 Oct (last chance to buy was 19 Oct) Elecon Engineering Interim dividend of Re 0.50
21 Oct (last chance to buy was 19 Oct) ICICI Prudential AMC Interim dividend of Rs 30
21 Oct (last chance to buy was 19 Oct) MRPL Interim dividend of Rs 3
23 Oct (last chance to buy is 22 Oct) Tech Mahindra Interim dividend of Rs 15
23 Oct (last chance to buy is 22 Oct) LTM Interim dividend of Rs 25
23 Oct (last chance to buy is 22 Oct) IRFC Interim dividend of Rs 1.15
23 Oct (last chance to buy is 22 Oct) Titan Biotech Bonus issue of 1:4

Other 23 Oct actions listed in one weekly roundup include dividends from HDB Financial Services, ICICI Lombard, Oberoi Realty and 360 ONE WAM, and a 1:5 split by Azad India Mobility. I could not verify every figure independently, so check the exchange notice for each.

Checklist Before the Last Chance to Buy

  1. Confirm the record date and ex-date on the exchange notice, not only in a news summary
  2. Treat the day before the record date as the last chance to buy, since shares bought on the ex-date do not qualify
  3. For the buyback, check the entitlement ratio and whether your holding is a small shareholder holding
  4. Allow for the price adjustment on the ex-date for dividends and splits
  5. Consider taxes on dividends and on any gain from the buyback

What to Watch Next After the Last Chance to Buy

  1. The VRL Logistics acceptance ratio and the price after the record date
  2. JSW Dulux trading at about Rs 300 per share after the split
  3. Angel One and Tips Music opening lower by about their dividends on 22 Oct
  4. The last chance to buy Tech Mahindra, LTM and IRFC for their 23 Oct dividends is 22 Oct

Conclusion

Today is the last chance to buy for four actions with a 22 Oct record date: the VRL Logistics buyback at Rs 320, the JSW Dulux 1:10 split and the Angel One and Tips Music dividends. The buyback is the only one with a clear premium, but acceptance is partial, and the dividends are small. Check the notices and your own plan before you buy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is today the last chance to buy for the 22 Oct record date?

Ans. Yes. Under T+1 settlement, shares bought on 21 Oct settle on 22 Oct, and the ex-date is the same as the record date, so a buyer on 22 Oct does not qualify.

What are the terms of the VRL Logistics buyback?

Ans. VRL Logistics will buy back up to 87.5 lakh shares, about 5% of paid-up capital, at Rs 320 each, capped at Rs 280 crore. It is a tender offer with a record date of 22 Oct 2026, and promoters are not participating. Today is the last chance to buy for it.

Does the buyback guarantee that all my shares are bought?

Ans. No. In a tender offer the company accepts shares in proportion to the entitlement ratio, so only part of your holding may be bought. The rest stays with you at the market price.

What happens to my shares in the JSW Dulux stock split?

Ans. Each Rs 10 share becomes ten shares of Re 1, so 100 shares become 1,000. The price falls to about a tenth, and the total value of your holding does not change.

How much are the Angel One and Tips Music dividends?

Ans. Angel One has declared Rs 1.40 per share and Tips Music Rs 6.50 per share, both with a 22 Oct record date. At current prices they are about 0.47% and 0.86% of the price.

Why was 19 Oct the last chance to buy for the 21 Oct dividends?

Ans. The market was closed on 20 Oct for Dussehra, so the last trading day before the 21 Oct record date was 19 Oct. This applies to the Elecon, ICICI Prudential AMC and MRPL dividends.

What are the risks of using the last chance to buy only for a corporate action?

Ans. Prices adjust for dividends and splits, a buyback offers only partial acceptance, and the stock can fall afterwards. A short-term trade for a small payout can also lose money to price moves.

Is this article investment advice?

Ans. No. It is educational and not a recommendation to buy or sell. Please check the figures against company filings and your own risk profile before you act on anything you read here.
