Hindalco: What the Market Expects

Hindalco’s board meets today to approve Q2 FY27 results. Motilal Oswal expects consolidated revenue of Rs 79,980 crore, EBITDA of Rs 9,960 crore and adjusted net profit of Rs 5,430 crore, which would be up about 11.6% year on year but well below the record Q1 profit of Rs 7,013 crore, per Trade Brains. Novelis, its US subsidiary, is a large part of revenue, and aluminium and copper prices drive the India business. The consensus was not independently verified, so check the actual numbers once filed.

Bharti Airtel: Growth With a Miss

Bharti Airtel reported consolidated profit of Rs 8,887.5 crore, up about 31% from Rs 6,791.7 crore, with revenue up 16.7% to Rs 60,878 crore. Average revenue per user rose to Rs 271 from Rs 256, and India revenue grew 9.4% to Rs 42,308 crore. Forbes India said profit was below the Rs 9,673 crore estimate compiled by LSEG, per Reuters. The company also spent Rs 2,826 crore on land for a planned 1 GW data-centre business. The shares closed at Rs 2,062.05 on the BSE, down 0.19%, before the results.

LIC: Profit Up, New Business Down

LIC reported standalone profit of Rs 12,076 crore, up about 20% from Rs 10,053 crore, with net premium income up 16.2% to Rs 1,47,018 crore. First-year premium income fell 3.7%, which is the figure to watch for future growth. The gross NPA ratio improved to 1.16% from 1.21% in the previous quarter. Profit fell 10.5% from Rs 13,492 crore in Q1, so the year-on-year growth should be read alongside the sequential decline.

ONGC and Titan: Different Stories

ONGC’s standalone profit rose 57.3% to Rs 15,489 crore on higher crude oil and gas realisations, and it declared an interim dividend of Rs 8 per share. On 5 November the stock fell 2.1% as crude slid, which shows how closely upstream producers track oil. Titan’s headline profit of Rs 2,393 crore includes a Rs 671 crore one-time accounting gain. Excluding it, profit would be about Rs 1,722 crore by our arithmetic. Our separate article covers Titan in detail.
