Carlyle in talks to sell its stake in Airtel’s Data Arm
Carlyle, a leading American private equity firm, is in discussions to sell its 25% stake in Nxtra Data to Blackstone.
Nxtra Data, the data arm of Bharti Airtel, is a key player in India’s data center domain.
The deal could value Bharti Airtel’s data business at a whopping Rs 10,000 crore.
Back in 2020, Carlyle acquired the stake for about $235 million (Rs 1,800 crore).
This potential sale marks Carlyle’s fourth major exit this financial year, including a notable stake sale in YES Bank.
With 12 large and 120 edge data centers across India, Nxtra plans a massive expansion.
Over Rs 5,000 crores to be invested for six new hyperscale data centers, doubling capacity to over 400 MW.
Nxtra’s revenue has seen a steady growth, from Rs 852 crore in FY19 to Rs 1,601 crore in FY23.
