NIFTY50
The index closed the week with a loss of 0.67%, settling at 24,853. The week was characterized by heightened volatility, as markets struggled for direction amid alternating bouts of sharp downswings and quick rebounds. While some sessions saw strong selling pressure driven by global uncertainty and sector-specific weakness, others witnessed short-covering and selective buying interest. Despite this choppiness, the index broadly remained range-bound and ended the week on a flat to negative note, reflecting overall indecision among market participants. Key resistance levels for the coming week are around 25,200, while support is seen near 24,400.

BANKNIFTY
The index closed the week with a marginal gain of 0.08%, settling at 55,398. The week was marked by heightened volatility, with alternating sessions of sharp declines and strong rebounds, keeping the index largely range-bound. Despite the choppy movement, PSU banks showed notable strength and outperformed their private counterparts, lending some support to the index. Overall, the market exhibited indecision with no clear trend direction. Key resistance levels for the coming week are seen around 56,200, while support is placed near 54,500.

Important News:-
- Companies including Angel One, Bajaj Finance, ITC, Tata Consumer Products, L&T Finance, Infosys and Colgate Palmolive (India) are other firms which will trade ex-dividend in the upcoming week starting Monday, 26 May 2025.
- NTPC’s total income increased to ₹51,085.05 crore in the latest March quarter from ₹48,816.55 crore in Q4 FY24. The company earned a revenue of ₹49,352.99 crore alone from the generation business, up from ₹47,088.70 crore revenue garnered from the segment in fourth quarter of FY24.
- Foreign Portfolio Investors sold shares worth ₹4,784.32 crore between May 19-23, reducing net inflows for May to ₹13,835 crore.
- US Steel will continue operations in the U.S., maintaining its headquarters in Pittsburgh. A partnership with Nippon Steel is projected to generate 70,000 jobs and add $14 billion to the economy, with significant investments planned for the next 14 months.
- Trump threatens 25% tariff on Apple and says Samsung and other tech companies could be next.
- Trump says he’s ‘not looking for a deal’ with the EU after threatening a 50% tariff.
