The stock market today opened sharply higher, with the BSE Sensex gaining around 788 points, or about 1%, to start the session at 78,883.34, while the Nifty 50 added 189.1 points to open at 24,572.70. The gap-up start came after crude oil prices fell sharply following the United States’ decision to hold off on fresh military action against Iran.<\/p>\n

In the previous session on Friday, July 31, the stock market had closed higher for a third straight day, with the Sensex ending 166 points, or 0.21%, higher at 78,094.64 and the Nifty 50 advancing 66 points to settle at 24,383.60. GIFT Nifty futures had already signalled today’s stronger open, surging around 180 points, or 0.74%, to 24,628 in early trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
