Seshasayee Paper and Boards Shares Jump 10% After Q2 Results, but Technicals Remain Weak: What's Next for Investors?

Seshasayee Paper share price jumped as much as 10.2% to Rs 218.75 on NSE on Monday, 26 Oct 2026, after Q2 FY27 standalone profit after tax nearly doubled to Rs 34.96 crore and revenue rose 45.3% to Rs 502.99 crore. The stock traded near Rs 210.30 around 12:27 PM, up 5.97% from Friday’s close of Rs 198.46. The 10% in the headline is the intraday high and not the midday level.

Quick Answer

Seshasayee Paper shares jumped on Q2 FY27 results because standalone profit rose 96% to Rs 34.96 crore and revenue rose 45.3% to Rs 502.99 crore, helped by higher production and sales volumes. The technical picture is still weak, since the stock trades under its 50-day and 200-day averages with a daily RSI near 29 and a SuperTrend sell signal. What is next depends on whether the stock can hold above Rs 203 and reclaim Rs 228, and on whether input costs stay under control. This is educational and not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold.

The Seshasayee Paper share price had fallen about 15% in under three weeks, from Rs 233.87 on 6 Oct to Rs 198.46 on 23 Oct, and touched a 52-week low of Rs 196.33 on the last day. The Seshasayee Paper Q2 results arrived when the chart was oversold, so the gap up looks partly like a rebound from a low base.

This article covers the day’s move in the Seshasayee Paper share, the Seshasayee Paper Q2 results, the cost and income detail, valuation, technical levels and the risks. It is educational and not advice.

Seshasayee Paper Share Price Today: The Move in Numbers

Seshasayee Paper share: measure (NSE, about 12:27 PM) Reading
Last price Rs 210.30, up 5.97%
Previous close (23 Oct) Rs 198.46
Open Rs 218.00, about 9.8% above the previous close (my calculation)
Day high and low Rs 218.75 and Rs 203.26
Day high versus previous close Up 10.2% (my calculation)
Volume About 4.6 lakh shares
52-week high and low Rs 293.11 and Rs 196.33
Distance from 52-week high About 28.3% below (my calculation)
Distance from 52-week low About 7.1% above (my calculation)

On BSE the Seshasayee Paper share price opened at Rs 219.90, which is about 10.5% above the previous close of Rs 199.05, so the headline’s 10% comes from the opening spike. The stock then gave back about 3.9% from the NSE high by midday (my calculation), and buyers at the open are already behind.

Volume in the Seshasayee Paper share of about 4.6 lakh shares compares with typical sessions of 0.2 to 1.0 lakh shares in October, so interest is high. The Seshasayee Paper and Boards stock is a small-cap with a market capitalisation near Rs 1,255 crore, which means a few large orders can move the price.

Q2 FY27 Results Behind the Seshasayee Paper Share Jump

Seshasayee Paper Q2 FY27 item (standalone) Q2 FY27 Q2 FY26 Q1 FY27
Revenue from operations Rs 502.99 crore Rs 346.25 crore, up 45.3% Rs 492.00 crore, up 2.2%
Total income Rs 514.85 crore Rs 359.58 crore Rs 505.25 crore
Profit before tax Rs 46.76 crore Rs 24.08 crore, up 94.2% Rs 45.10 crore
Profit after tax Rs 34.96 crore Rs 17.80 crore, up 96.4% Rs 33.59 crore, up 4.1%
Earnings per share Rs 5.80 Not given Not given

The Seshasayee Paper Q2 results table shows growth figures that are my calculations from the reported amounts. On a consolidated basis, Q2 profit was Rs 42.31 crore against Rs 22.41 crore a year ago, up about 89%, and revenue was Rs 503.06 crore against Rs 346.32 crore. For the first half, consolidated profit was Rs 74.22 crore against Rs 37.84 crore, which is nearly double.

The result also shows a sequential picture. Revenue rose only 2.2% and profit 4.1% from Q1, so most of the jump is year-on-year growth, and the quarter-on-quarter pace is modest. The Seshasayee Paper and Boards management attributes the growth to higher production and sales volumes, and the headline notes that rising input costs offset part of the benefit.

Costs and Income Detail Inside the Seshasayee Paper Share Result

Seshasayee Paper share: Q2 FY27 standalone item Rs crore Share of revenue (my calculation)
Materials consumed 315.89 62.8%
Power and fuel 59.18 11.8%
Other expenses 54.49 10.8%
Employee benefits 28.89 5.7%
Depreciation 11.62 2.3%
Other income 11.86 2.4%
Operating profit proxy (revenue less expenses, before depreciation and finance cost) 46.86 9.3%

For the Seshasayee Paper share, total expenses rose about 39.5% against revenue growth of about 45.3% (my calculation), so costs grew more slowly than sales, which explains why profit nearly doubled. Raw materials and power and fuel together take about 75% of revenue, so a rise in pulp, wood or coal prices can change the margin quickly.

Other income of Rs 11.86 crore was about 25% of profit before tax (my calculation), so a quarter of the profit comes from sources other than paper sales. The company does not report EBITDA in the filing I found, and the operating profit proxy above is my calculation from the expense lines.

Two corporate items also matter for the Seshasayee Paper share. The company raised its stake in the associate Ponni Sugars (Erode) Limited to 35.78% from 32.40%, which lifts its share of associate profit. It also took possession of the assets of Servalakshmi Paper Limited after approval from the National Company Law Tribunal, though one appeal at the appellate tribunal is still pending.

Valuation and Shareholding of Seshasayee Paper and Boards

Seshasayee Paper share: valuation (data provider) Reading
Market capitalisation About Rs 1,255 crore
Price to earnings 12.68 against an industry level of 18.72
Price to book 0.61
Earnings per share (trailing) Rs 15.70
Book value per share Rs 325.75
Return on equity 4.04%
Debt to equity 0.00
Dividend yield 0.96%

At 12.68 times earnings and 0.61 times book value, the Seshasayee Paper share price trades below the industry level and below the value of its assets on paper, and the company has no debt. The low return on equity of 4.04% explains part of the discount, because the company earns little on a large equity base. The latest quarters show profit growing quickly, so trailing numbers may understate current earnings.

Shareholding in Seshasayee Paper and Boards at the end of September 2026 was 43.30% with promoters, 12.37% with foreign institutions, 0.41% with domestic institutions and 43.91% with the public. Foreign holding has slipped from 12.94% in March 2026, while domestic institutions hold almost nothing, so the stock has little institutional support.

Why the Technicals of the Seshasayee Paper Share Remain Weak

Seshasayee Paper share: indicator (daily) Reading
14-day RSI About 29.4, oversold
50-day average About Rs 228.31, 8.6% above the price (my calculation)
200-day average About Rs 240.37, 14.3% above the price (my calculation)
SuperTrend Down; upper band Rs 232.68, lower band Rs 177.88
Bollinger bands Upper Rs 252.97, middle Rs 224.23, lower Rs 195.49
MACD Minus 8.94 against a signal of minus 6.58, negative
Seshasayee Paper share: level Rs What it marks
Resistance 3 228.31 50-day average
Resistance 2 224.23 Bollinger middle band
Resistance 1 218.75 Today’s high
Support 1 203.26 Today’s low
Support 2 198.46 Friday’s close
Support 3 196.33 52-week low (23 Oct 2026)

The chart of the Seshasayee Paper share explains the headline’s warning. The price sits below both averages and below the SuperTrend upper band at Rs 232.68, and the MACD is negative. The RSI near 29 shows the Seshasayee Paper share is oversold, which is why a result can trigger a sharp bounce. A close above Rs 232.68 would be the first sign of a trend change, and a close below Rs 196.33 would mean a new 52-week low. These are indicator readings and not forecasts.

What Is Next for Seshasayee Paper Share Investors?

Investor type Things to weigh What to check
Short-term trader A gap up into resistance with a weak trend Whether Rs 203 holds and Rs 218 to Rs 228 is reclaimed
Long-term investor Profit nearly doubled, no debt, 0.61 times book value Whether Q3 keeps volume and margin gains
Income investor Dividend yield of 0.96% The size of the next dividend

None of these rows is a recommendation. The next data points for the Seshasayee Paper share are the Q3 numbers, the monthly cost trend for pulp, coal and wood, and any update on the Servalakshmi Paper appeal.

Risks to Check Before You Decide

  1. Input costs. For the Seshasayee Paper share, materials, power and fuel take about 75% of revenue, so cost inflation can cut margins.
  2. Trend. The Seshasayee Paper share trend is down, and the gap up faded from Rs 218.75 to Rs 210.30 within hours.
  3. Legal. One appeal about the Servalakshmi Paper assets is pending.
  4. Liquidity. For the Seshasayee Paper share, the market capitalisation is about Rs 1,255 crore and institutions hold less than 1%, so prices can move sharply on small volumes.
  5. Other income. In the Seshasayee Paper share result, about a quarter of profit before tax came from other income, which may not repeat.

Conclusion

The Seshasayee Paper share jumped as much as 10.2% after Q2 profit nearly doubled and revenue rose 45.3%, but the stock trades 28% below its high and the technicals remain weak. The next signals are whether Rs 203 holds, whether Rs 228 is reclaimed and whether Q3 shows the same cost control. Check the facts and decide according to your own risk profile.

Ans. Standalone revenue from operations was Rs 502.99 crore, profit before tax was Rs 46.76 crore and profit after tax was Rs 34.96 crore. Consolidated profit was Rs 42.31 crore against Rs 22.41 crore a year ago, and half-year consolidated profit was Rs 74.22 crore.

Why are the technicals of Seshasayee Paper still weak?

Is the Seshasayee Paper share price undervalued?

Ans. The data provider shows a trailing price to earnings of 12.68 against an industry level of 18.72 and a price to book of 0.61, with no debt. The return on equity is only 4.04%, so a low multiple does not by itself mean the stock is undervalued. Please compare it with your own return needs.
