Nippon Life AMC Share Price Crashes 9%, Down 19% in 5 Days: Dividend, Record Date, Q2 Results and Yes Bank Bond Settlement

Nippon Life AMC share price hit a low of Rs 881.70 on 23 Oct 2026, down 9.7% from Rs 976, and traded near Rs 905.80 at about 12:30 PM. From the 15 Oct intraday high of Rs 1,094 the fall to the low is about 19.4%, which matches the 19% in the headline. The Q2 FY27 profit of Rs 324.37 crore fell 35.6% from Q1 after a one-time charge of Rs 96.76 crore linked to a SEBI settlement.

Quick Answer

Nippon Life AMC share price fell sharply because Q2 FY27 net profit dropped 5.9% YoY and 35.6% QoQ to Rs 324.37 crore, after a one-time charge of Rs 96.76 crore to settle SEBI proceedings over Yes Bank AT-1 bond investments by some Nippon India Mutual Fund schemes. The company declared an interim dividend of Rs 9.50 per share with a record date of 28 Oct 2026. Revenue from operations grew 21% YoY to Rs 796 crore and assets under management rose 14% to Rs 8.68 lakh crore. At Rs 905.80 the dividend yield on this payout is about 1.05%.

Nippon Life AMC share price had already lost ground before the results, and the Q2 numbers added to the fall. Headlines on the results conflict, so this article uses the filing-based figures reported by Angel One, Free Press Journal and Upstox, and it says clearly where the sources disagree.

This article on Nippon Life AMC share price covers the fall, the Q2 numbers, the Yes Bank bond settlement, the dividend and record date, valuation and what to watch. It is educational and not a recommendation to buy or sell.

Nippon Life AMC Share Price Today

Nippon Life AMC share price: point Level on 23 Oct 2026
Previous close Rs 976.00
Open Rs 975.00
Day low Rs 881.70, down 9.7%
Last traded price (about 12:30 PM) Rs 905.80, down 7.2%
Market cap at this price About Rs 57,600 crore (my calculation)

The Nippon Life AMC share price opened almost flat and then fell through the whole morning. Over the last eight sessions it has gone from Rs 1,065.70 on 13 Oct to Rs 905.80, a fall of 15% (my calculation). The 19% in the headline is measured from the intraday high of Rs 1,094 on 15 Oct to today’s low, and from the 15 Oct close of Rs 1,088.80 the fall to Rs 905.80 is about 16.8% (my calculation).

Nippon Life AMC Share Price and the Q2 FY27 Results

Nippon Life AMC share price: Q2 FY27 metric Figure
Revenue from operations Rs 796 crore, up 21% from Rs 658.1 crore
Total income Rs 818.89 crore, up 17.9% YoY and down 12.6% QoQ
Net profit Rs 324.37 crore, down 5.9% from Rs 344.64 crore
Net profit in Q1 FY27 Rs 503.70 crore; Q2 is 35.6% lower
Assets under management Rs 8.68 lakh crore, up 14% YoY
Mutual fund quarterly average AUM Rs 7.87 lakh crore, up 20% YoY
Interim dividend Rs 9.50 per share

The results conflict across headlines, which can confuse anyone tracking the Nippon Life AMC share price. Angel One’s headline says total income rose 5.9% YoY, but its body shows 17.9%, and the 5.9% figure matches the fall in net profit, so the headline looks like an error. An Investing.com headline calls this a record Q2 profit, which does not fit the filing numbers that show a 5.9% fall from last year. I use the filing numbers.

The Yes Bank AT-1 Bond Settlement Explained

The Rs 96.76 crore charge behind the fall in the Nippon Life AMC share price is a one-time exceptional item tied to settlement proceedings with SEBI over investments by certain Nippon India Mutual Fund schemes in Yes Bank Additional Tier-1 (AT-1) bonds. SEBI had issued a show-cause notice on 30 Aug 2024. AT-1 bonds are perpetual bonds that banks issue to meet capital rules, and they can be written down, which is what happened to Yes Bank’s AT-1 holders in 2020.

Nippon Life AMC share price: components of the charge Amount
Settlement amount for the company and certain officials Rs 7.68 crore
Management fees earned on the investments, with applicable interest Rs 89.08 crore
Total one-time charge Rs 96.76 crore

For the Nippon Life AMC share price, the key question is the clean profit. If the whole charge is added back with no tax effect, Q2 profit would be about Rs 421 crore, which is about 22% above last year (my calculation). The tax effect is not disclosed in the sources I read, so treat this as an upper bound and not as a reported number. The sequential drop of 35.6% is largely explained by this charge, but the 12.6% fall in total income from Q1 also played a part.

Caution: A settlement closes one proceeding, but it does not remove the wider question of how mutual fund houses manage credit risk, and investors may keep watching that.

Nippon Life AMC Dividend and Record Date

Nippon Life AMC share price: dividend detail Information
Type Interim dividend
Amount Rs 9.50 per share
Record date 28 Oct 2026
Payment From 5 Nov 2026
Dividend yield at Rs 905.80 About 1.05% (my calculation)
Estimated total payout About Rs 604 crore (my calculation from the market cap data)

Under T+1 settlement the ex-dividend date for the Nippon Life AMC dividend is normally the record date, so an investor needs to hold the shares at the close of 27 Oct to qualify. The estimated payout of about Rs 604 crore is larger than the Q2 profit of Rs 324.37 crore and about 73% of the Rs 828 crore earned in the first half (my calculation), so the board is paying out a high share of earnings. That is typical for asset managers with little need for capital, but it does mean the payout depends on profits holding up.

Nippon Life AMC Share Price Valuation

Nippon Life AMC share price: valuation measure Figure
Trailing EPS Rs 25.58
P/E at Rs 905.80 About 35.4 times (my calculation)
Industry P/E 16.89 times
Book value per share Rs 72.82
Price to book at Rs 905.80 About 12.4 times (my calculation)
Return on equity 32.83%
Debt to equity 0.02

Even after the fall, the Nippon Life AMC share price trades at about twice the industry P/E, and the Nippon Life AMC share price is one of the more richly valued financial stocks. The market pays this premium for a return on equity of 32.83%, almost no debt and AUM growth of 14% to 20%. A premium multiple leaves less room for disappointment in the Nippon Life AMC share price, which is why a one-time charge and a weak sequential profit can lead to a sharp fall.

Nippon Life AMC Share Price: Buy, Hold or Wait?

Nippon Life AMC share price: investor type (my reading) Points to weigh
Long-term investor AUM growth and a high return on equity support the business, and the settlement is a one-time item; the premium valuation is the main risk
Existing holder The Rs 9.50 dividend arrives for holders on 27 Oct, and a sale before that gives it up
Short-term trader The stock needs to stabilise above the Rs 881.70 low before a bounce can be trusted

This is an educational view and not advice. A drop of 19% in five sessions can extend or reverse, and the Nippon Life AMC share price will also follow the market, and the market direction will matter as much as the company news.

What to Watch Next on the Nippon Life AMC Share Price

  1. Whether the Nippon Life AMC share price holds the Rs 881.70 low at the close
  2. The record date of 28 Oct and the ex-dividend price move
  3. Monthly AUM data from the mutual fund industry body for market share trends
  4. Any further SEBI or regulatory updates on debt scheme investments
  5. Brokerage rating and target changes after the results, which will show how analysts value the Nippon Life AMC share price

Conclusion

Nippon Life AMC share price fell as much as 9.7% to Rs 881.70 after Q2 profit dropped 35.6% from Q1 on a Rs 96.76 crore SEBI settlement charge, even as AUM and revenue grew. The Rs 9.50 interim dividend has a record date of 28 Oct, and the stock still carries a premium valuation. Read the filings and decide on your own horizon.
