Reliance Industries Share Price: Jio Issue Gets a Blockbuster Response, but the Stock Is Near Its 52-Week Low. What Should You Do?

Reliance Industries share price was Rs 1,198.90 on the NSE (down 0.84%) at about 11:20 am IST on 22 Oct 2026, after an intraday low of Rs 1,190.10, about 1.6% below the previous close of Rs 1,209. The stock is about 4% above its 52-week low of Rs 1,152.20 and about 26% below its high of Rs 1,611.80 (my calculations). The Rs 30,213 crore Jio Platforms issue closes on 23 Oct. Nuvama’s target is Rs 1,766 with a Buy rating.

Quick Answer

The Reliance Industries share price is near Rs 1,199, about 4% above its 52-week low and down roughly 18% in a year, even though the Rs 30,213 crore Jio Platforms issue drew about Rs 2.5 lakh crore of anchor interest. Analysts quoted in the sources say a sustained reversal is unconfirmed, and Nuvama keeps a Buy rating with a Rs 1,766 target, which is about 47% above today’s price by my calculation. At a P/E of 18.53, the stock trades above the industry’s 15.41, so it is not a low multiple on trailing earnings. This is analysis and not advice, and the decision depends on your time frame and risk limit.

Reliance Industries share price has fallen about 1.5% at its lowest point on Thursday, bringing it close to its 52-week low even as demand for the Jio Platforms issue has been strong. The contrast between a well-received Jio offer and a weak parent stock is the main question for investors.

This article on the Reliance Industries share price covers the price levels, the reasons given for the fall, what the Jio issue could mean for valuation, the analyst target and the risks. It is educational and not a recommendation, and the Reliance Q2 FY27 results date was not confirmed in the sources I read.

Reliance Industries Share Price: Levels and Technical Data

Reliance Industries share price: measure Value at about 11:20 am IST on 22 Oct 2026
NSE price and day change Rs 1,198.90, down 0.84% (previous close Rs 1,209)
Day range Rs 1,190.10 to Rs 1,208
52-week low (weekly data) Rs 1,152.20 in the week of 12 Oct; Business Today reported Rs 1,160.40 on 9 Oct
52-week high Rs 1,611.80 in early January 2026
Distance from low and high About 4% above the low and about 26% below the high (my calculation)
Change over one year Down about 17% to 19% depending on the base week (my calculation); the source says more than 18%
RSI (14-day) 52.7
20-day moving averages Simple Rs 1,196.20 and exponential Rs 1,205.10
Market capitalisation About Rs 16.34 lakh crore

The Reliance Industries share price is sitting almost on its 20-day average with a neutral RSI of 52.7, so the chart is not oversold even though it is near the yearly low. The source says the stock fell about 1.5% on Thursday, which matches today’s intraday low of Rs 1,190.10 against the previous close, while the price I pulled at 11:20 am shows a smaller fall of 0.84%. A different time of day explains the difference.

Why Is the Reliance Industries Share Price Weak?

Reliance Industries share price: reason (Business Today, 9 Oct) Detail
Market correction Benchmark indices reported down about 15% so far in 2026
Muted oil and gas results Weak segment profit amid the West Asia crisis
Rising depreciation Heavy recent capex could lift depreciation charges sharply
Waiting for the Jio listing A clearer Jio valuation is seen as a possible re-rating trigger
Waiting for Q2 FY27 results Investors are awaiting September quarter numbers

These are the reasons given by one analyst in one article, and not a full explanation. The Reliance Industries share price fell about 25% in 2026 so far on my weekly data, from about Rs 1,592 at the end of December to Rs 1,198.90 (my calculation), which is bigger than the roughly 15% fall in benchmark indices quoted in the article, so stock-specific factors clearly matter too.

Risk: A weak oil and gas segment and rising depreciation could keep profit growth below revenue growth, which can limit re-rating even after the Jio listing.

Reliance Industries Share Price and the Jio Platforms Issue

Reliance Industries share price: Jio issue point Detail
Issue size Rs 30,213 crore, fresh issue only
Price band and lot Rs 1,065 to Rs 1,119 a share and 12 shares a lot
Anchor demand About Rs 2.5 lakh crore of interest; Rs 8,109.84 crore allotted to 212 anchor investors
Valuation at the upper band Market value about Rs 10.30 lakh crore and about 34.3 times FY26 profit (one source)
Reliance shareholder quota Up to Rs 2,500 crore for eligible shareholders
Dates Bidding closes 23 Oct 2026; listing expected 28 Oct 2026

The response to the Reliance Industries share price’s subsidiary issue has been strong at the anchor stage, with bids about 30 times the anchor quota. Day 1 public subscription figures are less clear: one source shows total subscription at 0.91 times, 1.15 times, 2.23 times and 2.54 times in different places, so I do not rely on any single figure. The retail category was below full subscription on Day 1 in every version I saw. Check the exchange data for the latest figures.

Risk: A strong anchor book does not guarantee a strong listing or a rise in the parent’s stock, and the final subscription is known only after bidding closes.

What the Jio Valuation Could Mean for the Reliance Industries Share Price

Reliance Industries share price: rough value check (my calculation) Figure
Jio market value at the upper band About Rs 10.30 lakh crore
Reliance stake after the issue, assuming 66.43% before and no purchase by Reliance About 64.5%
Value of that stake About Rs 6.64 lakh crore
Reliance market value today About Rs 16.34 lakh crore
Stake as a share of Reliance’s market value About 41%
Value the market gives the rest of Reliance About Rs 9.70 lakh crore

This is a rough sum and not a valuation. It uses the upper band, assumes Reliance does not buy in the offer, ignores any holding company discount and ignores debt. It suggests that if Jio lists near the upper band, a large part of the Reliance Industries share price is already explained by Jio, and the rest of the business would be valued at about Rs 9.70 lakh crore. Whether that is low or high depends on retail, oil to chemicals and new energy earnings, which I do not model here.

Reliance Industries Share Price: Q1 FY27 Fundamentals and Analyst View

Reliance Industries share price: Q1 FY27 or valuation measure Figure
Consolidated revenue Rs 3,40,257 crore, up 24.5%
EBITDA Rs 54,067 crore, up 10.1%, a record
Profit after tax Rs 23,196 crore, up 6.1% on a like-for-like basis
Digital services EBITDA Rs 21,255 crore, up 16.1%
Oil to chemicals EBITDA Rs 17,010 crore, up 17.2%
Retail EBITDA Rs 6,309 crore, down 1.1%
Oil and gas EBITDA Rs 4,973 crore, down 0.5%
Net debt Rs 1,22,914 crore, about 0.6 times EBITDA
P/E, industry P/E and price to book 18.53, 15.41 and 1.81
Return on equity and dividend yield 8.94% and 0.50%
Nuvama view Buy, 12-month target Rs 1,766; Q2 FY27 EBITDA estimated up 17%

Nuvama expects Q2 FY27 oil to chemicals EBITDA up 38%, digital up 16%, oil and gas down 6% and retail down 1%. The target of Rs 1,766 is about 47% above Rs 1,198.90 (my calculation), but it is one broker’s 12-month view. A return on equity of 8.94% is modest for a P/E above the industry’s, which is why the Reliance Industries share price needs earnings growth, not just a Jio listing, to re-rate.

Levels I Would Watch (My Reference Points)

Reliance Industries share price level Price Why I use it
Weekly low in my data Rs 1,152.20 Lowest weekly price in the past year
Today’s low Rs 1,190.10 Intraday low on 22 Oct
20-day averages Rs 1,196.20 and Rs 1,205.10 Price is sitting on them
Last week’s high Rs 1,234.30 Recent resistance
Nuvama target Rs 1,766 Broker 12-month view

I found no expert stop-loss for the Reliance Industries share price, so these are references and not advice. A close under Rs 1,152.20 would mean fresh lows, while a close above Rs 1,234.30 would show recovery. Decide your own limit before you act.

Grey Market Premium and the Jio Issue

Grey market premium (GMP) is an unofficial, unregulated indicator for the Jio Platforms IPO that is not endorsed by SEBI, NSE, or BSE. Investors looking for indicative GMP data can go through other relevant sources, though such figures should never be the sole basis for an investment decision.

What to Watch Next for the Reliance Industries Share Price

  1. Final Jio subscription after bidding closes on 23 Oct
  2. The Jio listing on 28 Oct and its price against the Rs 1,119 upper band
  3. Reliance Q2 FY27 results date and numbers, when announced
  4. Oil and gas and retail segment trends, which drive the Reliance Industries share price
  5. Whether the stock holds Rs 1,152 and its 20-day average

Conclusion

The Reliance Industries share price is near its yearly low while the Jio issue draws strong demand, so the market is waiting for proof that Jio’s value will lift the parent. Valuation is not low on trailing earnings, and analysts are cautious about a sustained reversal. Read the exchange notices and decide within your own risk limit.
