Dividend Record Date: Last Chance to Buy Today to Qualify, Elecon, ICICI Prudential AMC, MRPL - Who Pays Max Amount?

The dividend record date for Elecon Engineering (Rs 0.50), ICICI Prudential AMC (Rs 30) and MRPL (Rs 3) is Wednesday 21 Oct 2026. With Tuesday a market holiday and T+1 settlement, today, Monday 19 Oct, is the last day to buy and qualify. ICICI Prudential AMC pays the most per share, while MRPL has the highest yield among the three at about 1.7% (my calculation). One report gives 20 October as the last day, which is a holiday, so I have not used it.

Quick Answer

The dividend record date for Elecon Engineering, ICICI Prudential AMC and MRPL is 21 October 2026, and under T+1 settlement the last day to buy and qualify is Monday 19 October because Tuesday 20 October is a market holiday for Dussehra. ICICI Prudential AMC pays the most per share at Rs 30, MRPL pays Rs 3 and Elecon pays Rs 0.50. By my calculation the yield at morning prices is about 1.1% for ICICI Prudential AMC, 1.7% for MRPL and 0.1% for Elecon. The shares usually trade ex-dividend from the dividend record date, so buying only for the payout does not create a gain on its own.

A dividend record date is the day a company checks its register to decide who receives the dividend. In India, with T+1 settlement, a share must be bought one trading day before the record date and reach your demat account in time. Because 20 October is a holiday, that day is 19 October for the 21 October record date.

This guide compares the three payouts, shows the yield and the amount per 100 shares, lists other dividends this week, explains the ex-date and covers the risks. It is educational and not a recommendation to buy or sell.

Dividend Record Date 21 October: Who Pays the Most

Company Dividend per share Record date Payment date Prior payout
ICICI Prudential AMC Rs 30 interim dividend (3000% of Rs 1 face value) 21 Oct 2026 Not stated Final Rs 12.40, ex-date 12 Jun 2026; Rs 27.25 paid in the last 12 months per one report
MRPL Rs 3 interim dividend 21 Oct 2026 On or before 4 Nov 2026 Interim Rs 4, ex-date 11 Mar 2026
Elecon Engineering Rs 0.50 interim dividend 21 Oct 2026 On or after 4 Nov 2026 Final Rs 1.50, ex-date 12 Jun 2026

ICICI Prudential AMC pays the most per share on this dividend record date, and its Rs 30 is also the highest among the 11 dividend stocks with record dates from 21 to 23 October. Per-share size alone does not show value, though, because the share prices are very different.

Dividend Record Date Yield and Payout per 100 Shares

Company Price at 9:34 AM, 19 Oct Yield on this dividend (my calculation) Payout on 100 shares
ICICI Prudential AMC About Rs 2,786 About 1.08% Rs 3,000
MRPL About Rs 173 About 1.73% Rs 300
Elecon Engineering About Rs 470 About 0.11% Rs 50

One report puts the ICICI Prudential AMC yield at 0.97%, which matches Rs 27.25 over the last 12 months against the Rs 2,811.75 close on 16 October, not the new Rs 30 payout. On the Rs 30 dividend alone, the yield is about 1.07% at that close (my calculation). MRPL has the highest yield of the three for this dividend record date.

Around the dividend record date the shares were also moving. Elecon was down about 2.2% in the morning and ICICI Prudential AMC about 0.9%, so the price move can be larger than the payout in a single session.

ICICI Prudential AMC: The Rs 30 Payout Before the Dividend Record Date

Metric Detail
Q2 FY27 profit after tax Rs 889 crore, up 6.1% from Rs 838 crore
Q2 FY27 revenue from operations Rs 1,674 crore, up 16.3% from Rs 1,439 crore
Market capitalisation (16 Oct) About Rs 1,38,973 crore
Share price returns to 16 Oct Down 7.16% in a week, down 14.68% in six months, up 7.10% in 2026
Approximate total payout (my calculation) About Rs 1,480 crore, using about 49 crore shares implied by market capitalisation

The total payout for this dividend record date is about 1.7 times the quarter’s profit (my calculation), which is possible for an asset manager with strong cash flow but shows why the payout matters beyond the yield. The share count is inferred from market capitalisation, so treat the total as approximate.

Other Dividend Record Dates This Week

Company Dividend per share Record date Last day to buy (my reading)
Tips Music Rs 6.50 22 Oct 21 Oct
Angel One (interim) Rs 1.40 22 Oct 21 Oct
LTM Rs 25 23 Oct 22 Oct
Tech Mahindra Rs 15 23 Oct 22 Oct
360 ONE WAM Rs 7.50 23 Oct 22 Oct
ICICI Lombard General Insurance (interim) Rs 7 23 Oct 22 Oct
HDB Financial Services (interim) Rs 2 23 Oct 22 Oct
IRFC Rs 1.15 23 Oct 22 Oct

The last-day column for each dividend record date is my reading under T+1 and the holiday, so check the ex-date on NSE or BSE before acting. One report put LTM’s trailing dividends at Rs 75, but Rs 25 plus the Rs 53 final paid in May is Rs 78, so that figure looks inconsistent.

What the Ex-Dividend Date Means After the Dividend Record Date

The ex-dividend date is the first day the stock trades without the right to the dividend. On that day the price is usually adjusted down by about the dividend amount, so for MRPL, a refinery operator, a Rs 3 adjustment on a Rs 173 share is small, while for ICICI Prudential AMC it is Rs 30. Buying only for the dividend record date payout means you receive cash but own a share that is worth about that much less.

Dividends from this dividend record date are also taxable in the hands of the shareholder at the slab rate, and TDS may apply above a yearly threshold, so check the current rules.

Risk: A one-day purchase before a dividend record date can lose more to the price adjustment, brokerage and taxes than the payout earns.

What to Watch Next

  1. The ex-dividend date and payment date confirmations for each company on NSE and BSE
  2. ICICI Prudential AMC’s price after the dividend record date adjustment of Rs 30
  3. MRPL’s payout on or before 4 November
  4. The next dividend record date set on 22 and 23 October
  5. Whether more companies declare interim dividends with their Q2 results

Conclusion

For the 21 October dividend record date, ICICI Prudential AMC pays the most per share, MRPL gives the best yield of the three and Elecon’s payout is small. Today is the last day to buy, but the price adjustment on the ex-date means the dividend alone is not a reason to buy.
