Tech Mahindra Dividend, Bonus Share 2026: Should You Buy Ahead of Record Date?

The Tech Mahindra dividend is an interim Rs 15 per share (300% of the Rs 5 face value) with a record date of Friday 23 Oct 2026, and the board also approved a 1:1 bonus issue whose record date is not yet confirmed. The stock rose 4.75% on 15 Oct and about 7.5% on 16 Oct after Q2 net profit rose 33% YoY to Rs 1,586 crore. This is a rule-and-numbers guide and not a buy call.

Quick Answer

The Tech Mahindra dividend is Rs 15 per share for FY27, with a record date of 23 October 2026 and payment scheduled by 13 November. Because the record date and ex-date coincide under T+1 settlement, buying by 22 October should qualify you, but confirm the ex-date on NSE. The board also approved a 1:1 bonus issue with completion expected by 15 December, but the bonus record date is not yet confirmed. The Tech Mahindra dividend is about 0.85% of the 16 October price (my calculation), so the Q2 results and the bonus matter more than the payout when deciding.

Tech Mahindra reported a 33% YoY rise in Q2 FY27 consolidated net profit to Rs 1,586 crore and revenue of Rs 16,180 crore, up 15.6%. The stock closed at Rs 1,650 on 15 October and traded near Rs 1,773 on 16 October, so a buyer today pays more than the price before the results. The board declared the interim dividend alongside them.

This guide explains the Tech Mahindra dividend dates, how the record date works, what the bonus does and does not change, what the Q2 numbers say and the risks of buying only for the payout. It is educational and not a recommendation to buy or sell Tech Mahindra.

How the Tech Mahindra Dividend Record Date Works

The record date is the day the company checks its register to see who gets the Tech Mahindra dividend. Under T+1 settlement, a share bought on the day before the record date settles in time, and the stock trades ex-dividend from the record date itself. That is why 22 October is the last day to buy, as far as I know.

On the ex-date the share price is usually adjusted down by about the dividend amount, so buying only for the payout does not create a gain by itself. The Tech Mahindra dividend of Rs 15 is a transfer of cash from the company to you, not new value.

Holding before record date Tech Mahindra dividend before tax (my calculation)
100 shares Rs 1,500
500 shares Rs 7,500
1,000 shares Rs 15,000

The Tech Mahindra dividend is taxable in the hands of the shareholder at the slab rate, and as far as I know TDS may apply once dividends from a company cross an annual threshold. Check the current rules or ask a tax adviser.

Tech Mahindra Dividend Payout: How Big Is It?

Measure (my calculation) Result
Tech Mahindra dividend yield at Rs 1,650 (15 Oct close) About 0.9%
Dividend yield at Rs 1,773 (16 Oct) About 0.85%
Dividend against Q2 basic EPS of Rs 17.84 About 84% of one quarter’s EPS
Approximate total outgo About Rs 1,470 crore (market cap of Rs 1.62 lakh crore at Rs 1,650 implies about 98 crore shares)
Total outgo against Q2 net profit of Rs 1,586 crore About 93%

The share count is inferred from market capitalisation, so the outgo is approximate. It shows that the Tech Mahindra dividend is large against one quarter’s profit, which is why the cash flow and cash balance matter. Tech Mahindra reported free cash flow of $135 million and cash and equivalents of Rs 7,330 crore.

What the 1:1 Bonus Does and Does Not Change

A 1:1 bonus doubles the number of shares you hold and, in theory, halves the price, so your total value is unchanged on the day. At Rs 1,773 the theoretical post-bonus price would be about Rs 886 (my calculation). The bonus can improve liquidity and make the stock look more accessible, but it does not raise earnings.

Future dividends per share will also be adjusted for the larger share count, so the Tech Mahindra dividend of Rs 15 here should not be compared directly with a post-bonus payout. For long-term holders the bonus is neutral, and the Tech Mahindra dividend is cash received.

Tech Mahindra Q2 FY27 Results Behind the Dividend

Metric Q2 FY27 Change
Consolidated net profit Rs 1,586 crore Up 8.2% QoQ and about 33% YoY
Revenue from operations Rs 16,180 crore Up 3% QoQ and 15.6% YoY
Constant currency revenue $1,693 million Up 2.4% QoQ and 7.2% YoY
EBIT Rs 2,387 crore Up 5.4% QoQ
EBIT margin 14.8% Up 40 bps QoQ and about 260 bps YoY
Deal wins (TCV) $1,023 million Fourth straight quarter above $1 billion
Headcount 152,206 LTM IT attrition 11.7%

A margin of 14.8% is still below peers such as HCLTech at 18.2% and TCS at 24.0%, based on the figures I used in my IT comparison. Growth of 7.2% in constant currency is the best among TCS, HCLTech, Wipro and Tech Mahindra, which is part of why the stock moved up.

Risk: Buying after a rise of about 12.5% in two sessions, from Rs 1,575 to near Rs 1,773 (my calculation from the previous close), means the good Q2 news is partly in the price before the Tech Mahindra dividend is even paid.

What to Check Before Buying for the Tech Mahindra Dividend

Question Why it matters
Am I buying for the dividend or the business? The dividend is under 1% of the price; business growth drives most returns
Do I understand the ex-date? Buying on or after 23 October does not qualify
Is the price already high? The stock rose about 4.75% and then about 7.5% in two sessions
What is the tax on my Tech Mahindra dividend? It is added to income and taxed at the slab rate
Is the bonus date confirmed? Not yet, per the reports I read

What to Watch Next

  1. The bonus record date and approval filing from Tech Mahindra
  2. The ex-date for the Tech Mahindra dividend on NSE and BSE
  3. Q3 FY27 deal wins against the $1 billion mark and margin progress toward Tech Mahindra’s targets
  4. Brokerage target changes after the Q2 results
  5. IT sector demand, AI-related deal flow and US client budgets

Conclusion

The Tech Mahindra dividend of Rs 15 is a modest cash return with a clear record date of 23 October, and the 1:1 bonus is a share count change and not new value. Decide based on results, price and your horizon, and confirm dates with the exchange.
